It's astounding;
Time is fleeting;
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely...

Congrats rman

We made it home safely from Ohio. 6.5 hours straight through. I'm exhausted.

Truck's burning oil now too.... crap. Might have to replace truck.

Did get 11.3mpg average for the 780 miles dragging the camper. That's good for empty truck, and personal best for camper towing. Usually 9.5-10.5 but sometimes 6-7 if I get a lot of traffic.

Wife isn't beat from a week on the road.

Off on a u-pick fruit n veggie adventure. Hated these places as a kid, hated when I worked in the fields picking.

But I'm keeping an open mind. Paying to do manual labor in the dirt and sun on a humid day with all the mosquitos might turn out to be loads of fun.

Heh. The woman loves those too... Especially cherry season.

She eats a couple pounds of the fruit while we're picking... Which she better because they charge more than if I had some migrant labor pick it.

82/110 meh. Twenty-eight years ago today the temp hit 122 and they closed the airport because they didn't have aviation charts that went past 120. I ran 5 miles that day just to see if I could.

Had one follow me around on the last shore dive when we were swimming back. Kinda creepy to have it pop it's head up... Then go under... Pop it's head up somewhere closer... Then go under...

It's the sealions that are the problem apparently. They were attacking swimmers a couple months ago, coming out of nowhere and giving them some pretty serious bites.

Ended up just buying a bucket of pre-picked strawberries.

Drove into the you-pick area and got to the gate, $7 a person. So $21 to pick our own berries... I asked how many pounds of berries does that price include? None... gotta pay per basket. But if you buy 5 you get the 6th free. So... what's the discount or price per basket if I'm picking my own? $5.99 a basket. Hm. They were $5.99 a basket in the farmstand and buy 5 get the 6th free.

So I'm supposed to pay $21 over the price of the berries in the farmstand for the privilege of picking them myself. d'oh!

NOPE!

Damn... Even in California they don't charge an entrance fee to the u-pick places.... They just tack an extra dollar or 2 onto the price per pound.

So dumb.

Why the F would I want to pay MORE to do the work??

I hate self checkouts enough at the grocery store, think they should come with a discount on my bill. But I sure as hell aint paying extra to do someone else's job.

Stupid.

Went blueberry picking a few years ago and it was done right. $1/unit (pint?) off the farmstand price and free entry. Still paid more than grocery store, but it was something to do.

Lots of folks get seals and sea lions mixed up, especially juvenile sea lions and seals.
During mating season, the males of both species can be grumpy and territorial.
Down in Santa Cruz, full sized male harbor seals (300lbs+) are not to be taken lightly. They will bite, and it's not pretty.
Generally,when agitated, sea lions will swim towards you fast, do a 180 and slap the water with their "tail", quite close to where you are paddling. That's your warning......best to leave.....quickly.
Good buddy got bit in the SHIN.........it hurt "just a bit", as he would say, and he still has a nasty deep scar from that one.
