Hope you're not on the side and a floor next to the annoying roller coaster. We were there 10-12 years ago, and the dayum roller coaster ran 24/7, without any riders on it, about once every 10 minutes or so. Otherwise, it's a fun place.

Just a few more things to wrap up before tomorrow.

Not bringing the camper sure makes things a bit more difficult. Usually it's throw some food in the fridge, make sure you got a bag of clothes, and hit the road. Tenting I gotta empty out half the camper into my truck toolbox and then pack some clothes. Doesn't help that I feed a dozen people for the weekend, so I gotta make sure I got a suitable portable kitchen and all that goes with that.

It's a practice run before the big trip to ATL next month for the same thing.

Mower deck fell off the lawn tractor while mowing. Kinda knew it was coming, been ignoring the crack for over a year.

Pulled it off, welded back together, put it back on and finished mowing.

Now got the flatbed hitched up to head up to Chicago to pickup a buddy's racecar to take to track tomorrow.

lawn mowing interrupted by a welding session...
this only adds to the life I picture you living.

go to the corner store 97 miles away for a bag o' ice, 64 miles in have to stop, pull the engine with some mechanical doohickey made from twist ties, straws from Wendy's, and springs cut out of the back seat, change the spinners and brody knobs, replace the engine, continue the errand.

Totally normal.

God, I wish you were my neighbor, Danm.

I've done an engine swap in similar fashion, using a tree and some rope as the hoist. Fashioned rings to bolt the rope to engine from springs in the bottom of a couch in his trash pile, and some copper wire harvested from a speaker lead to keep the ring's shape. Buddy's car, not mine. He lived 50 miles from anything, so we just made do.

I've replaced a drive axle on the side of the highway that blew while I did a rolling burnout. Had a spare in the trunk, a pipe wrench and some screwdrivers so I went for it. Girlfriend at the time was disgusted that I wouldn't call a tow, and called herself a ride home. I was done about 5 minutes after her ride showed up.

I live in the perfect area. Outside of a town, so I can do whatever the hell I want (within county ordinance, which is basically "don't kill anyone but yourself") yet "town" is only 5 minutes away. Hell, downtown Chicago is 40 minute drive. My neighbors are good, everybody knows everybody but doesn't get their nose where it don't belong.

All packed or staged to leave for racetrack tomorrow, to live in a tent in 90 degree weather. Hopefully the shower's working there. They have a big communal shower, but the cylindrical tower in the middle with the showerheads seems to only allow water to one half of one showerhead, and it's barely a trickle.

So it kinda gets crowded.

I'm like a genius,
And you are awesome!

Used to have a buddy years ago who went from fixing one mechanical mess to another. Loved to recruit me to help, my value was I knew the diff between a phillips head screw driver and the other kind.

one day he was under a car fixing something, asked me for an unfamiliar tool, after 3 seconds of no response he slides out on that wheeled thing, grabs the tool he needed and says to me, "you're like working with a dead man".

so I rolled a joint.

Now I'm thinking that was why he wanted me there.

Hmm, took my dad for a drive to the coast, his van is having issues again, either a blower motor or a relay has burned out. Time to take the dang thing back into the shop. I swear that there is always something wrong with this POS...

Waiting for the a/c repair guy to come before it hits 95F today. Coil has a tiny leak. Just need a little coolant to get me to Tuesday when the new coil is to be installed.
