Political theater? Sure. There was no realistic expectation of actually learning anything. But 'innoculation .....'.
I don't think so. Nothing so calculated.
I think the outrage towards Strozk and Page is warranted. Unprofessional government employees is one thing -- but this guy was on the front lines of a couple things that still had the potential to be huge. His bias isn't in question - and anyone who says they believe that it didn't affect his work is lying. But, I don't think anyone on the right wanted anything out of yesterday's circus beyond publicly humiliating a dumb chit who, IMO, deserved it. It's the grandstanding about nothing related to subject at these hearings that bothers me quite a bit. Both sides do it. But you listen to the Purple Heart guy and you understand completely why Congress' approval ratings are lower than hemorrhoids....and even lower than Nickleback.
