What is there to do around Lake Tahoe during the summer?

Going to Tahoe Thursday for 5 days of vacation. Any good restaurants I should check out? Besides the gondola ride, what do you recommend we see and do?

Catamaran ride, spectacular scenery. Waterfalls, again spectacular. Hiking, again spectacular. Old something castle, a great home tour of Norse inspired architecture.

The Vikingsholm, it's a good walk from the road, but worth the time.

several jetski and sea doo rental operations on both CA and NV side of lake, most places offer the more sedate, but fun, two person paddle boats and single or double kayaks...couple of stables nearby offering horseback rides along some very scenic trails up the mountainsides and across a river...bicycle rentals for use on trails around the lake or off-road mountain bike trails....

casinos on NV side of stateline for night-time adult entertainment...

if you're traveling with your family, and want a good low-priced diner with something for everyone, try Driftwood Cafe or California Burger....best breakfast joint is the Red Hut Cafe...

IMO Tahoe is overrated in the summer. Not a whole lot to do but hike, swim, or go on a boat if you have one. I was just there this morning actually, it's a bit smokey from fires near Yosemite.
Also, if you're staying in south lake you're about 1 hour drive from Fumare cigar shop in Reno which is Dion Giolittos shop. Great place with very good prices.

Not sure where you are staying, or if you will have a car.
If by chance you're in south lake, and you have a car, you could take one day to drive around the lake at a leisurely pace.
Do it clockwise (see google earth)...... Then you'll hit Emerald Bay in the morning....there are some nice, easy short hikes there, and before there at camp Richardson.
Drive on through some of the smaller ski resorts on the west shore, then on to the north shore for some lunch.
Then down the east side there's lots of places to pull over and scramble down to the lake for an afternoon swim.
Then back to the south shore for dinner somewhere, maybe a couple hands of black jack.
Relaxing drive with short lunch/brunch break only is 4 or so hours.
Could be an all day event with a hike and a swim and dinner thrown in.
Lots of photo ops on the drive.

If you have a car the Hot August Nights car show goes all week 8/4-8/11 in Reno. One of the biggest and best classic car events in the nation.
