I go to an auction. Someone has bid, it's $4. $4 is the bid next to the name, fine. Bid to beat is $5. I bid $5. Get the refreshed page and it says you are losing this lot. I look down and the bid from the person is now the amount that I just bid but their bid was from say, 3 days ago. It now has a higher price to bid to beat the bid price that no one else has made, just me.
Anyone else see that as a scam built into the software?

When you bid you can also set your "max" bid.Everytime someone bids your max bid beats it til exhausted. His max may be $10.......just keep bumping it til you win.Losing a bid is a sign of weakness.

it's an auto-bid feature, which allows a bidder to set a higher amount, that is hidden, a maximum bid amount that he's willing to pay, but will only increase as others bid the price up in the established increments.

In your example, the person may have set $7 as his maximum, so if you bid $6 after seeing his bid at $5, the page will refresh automatically to show his name and his $7 bid. If you bid $8, you'll then have outbid his max bid and the page will refresh accordingly...hope this helps...

edit: Whistle types faster and thinks more quickly...

Just one of our active members outbidding you because you are not a regular poster. Losing is a sign of weakness and they are testing you.

Isn't there a "membership level" that takes care of this?

Now see, that's the difference between Z, and the rest of us.
Z can just throw the "P" word around Willynilly.
Cacman, and the rest of have to make vague references to it, or we get tossed near the Cameroon landing zone.
Think
Z's mommy plays favorites!
