Thanks Dan!

Am I prepared? Hmm, a quick check last night and yes, I'm pretty sure I've got 'nuff cigars, bourbon and beer to weather the storm (...haha, pun intended!...).

But seriously, we're stocked up on canned goods, bottled water and most other essentials. Need to fill containers and coolers with water and get some ice later on...you know, just in case Lane ain't so nice. Shame on you

Will have to bring in the potted plants and loose outdoors stuff too if he/she really shows up.

I hope it misses you... and causes some of the pelagic fish I want to catch to come closer to me.

I'm just being practical... we may as well both get what we want, right? Am I right? Angel

Thanks everyone. Cleaned and filled up 3 good-sized containers for drinking water. All the outside loose stuff is in the garage, including the trash and recycling containers so don't have to worry about anything falling or flying around. Now it's just a matter of waiting for the rain tomorrow.

I heard on the national news "16-20" of rain...

H3LL, that's a normal 14-21 days in Kuaui...if I remember correctly...but not in 2 days

The catagories and wind mph keep changing every 12 hours two...the last model I saw yesterday had it making a U-turn
North & west just skirting all the islands...

Days ago it was a CAT 5 with 160 MPH SUSTAINED
WINDAGE

Looks like we’re gonna luck out as Lane is weakening and looks like it’s gonna turn west. We’ll still get a bunch of rain so flooding in some areas will probably still happen; however, it coulda been w-a-y worse if it stayed on a northern course.

Thanks again for all of your well wishes and prayers.

Down to a Category 2 so winds are “only” 110 mph. By the time it hits Oahu, predicted to be down to Cat 1.

For us, ‘cause we live on the northeast side of the island with the Ko’olau mountains separating us from Downtown Honolulu, we’ll probably be spared any big damages (...crossing my fingers...). National Weather Service predicting heavy rains later on today.

All in all, although we were decently prepared, found some gaps that will be remedied once things settle down.

Yahoo!

Lane no longer classified as a hurricane so I guess it's now a tropical storm.

It did start to rain about 15 minutes ago where I live but relatively light to what I was expecting when Lane was a bad-azz Cat 5 hurricane.

Thanks once more for everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear it, Conan. Mrs Monkey was asking about “that nice man in Hawaii that sent you all that stuff a few years ago” while watching the hurricane story on the news Thursday.

BEWARE: FEMA SENDING "FEMA BARGES TO HAWAII"
on YouTube...never get on a FEMA barge..everyone in Houston who did has disappeared...

They are floating jails and very bad.

Sounds like your ok though, that's good news.

Tell anyone who isn't? To stay off the barges if and when they arrive...they are docking 10 miles offshore to avoid press scrutiny( like in Houston) and ferrying in destitute people on motor boats out to them this time ,
if the destruction is bad enough.
