Mutual Funds
Stocks
Bonds
Cash in an investment account

All in a fund with Wells Fargo Advisors, NOT the bank, a separate company. I have a financial advisor that is really good as I find it easier to decipher computer code than financial documents. He is also not local because I like my finances private. I found him through a recommendation of a friend that retired a few years before me, RIP Ed.

yes to the first four...CD, MM, MF (and ETF's - same as MF?), stocks ...

no to the last three...

my income is a PERS retirement, and they likely include the last three in their investment strategies/portfolio...

CDs - No. The yields aren't there anymore.
MM's - No.
Mutual Funds - Yes. Fidelity and Vanguard
Stocks - Yes, but not as active as I used to be when I day traded.
Bonds - No.
Futures - No.
Options - No.

I also use one that you don't have listed. Annuities. I have 2 of them. They have performed quite nicely and I should be earning over 700.00 each a month when I'm ready. I looked at them when CD's stopped paying out double digits. I started with just one and then opened another 2 years ago.

Interesting? I keep getting e-mails about claiming those funds.
Didn't know it was your money.

On the investment side. I don't have any useful information to give out except to buy low and sell high. Sarcasm

All of ya'll...what's your liquid/rainy day strategy?

How many months of income?
How do you keep it?
How long would it take to access?

I'm recently in money market savings, because it's instantaneous, but at .65%, it grows more moss than interest

No good answer here. Have a few MM/savings accounts scattered around with banks and Vanguard but there is no way to keep liquid assets and not lose purchasing power at the same time. Therefore, I probably don't keep more than a few months in those accounts and just rely on wire transfer of funds from a mutual if the need ever arises. I can get at those in 48 hours.

The rates for MMs will slowly creep up, as the Feds goose their bank rate to 2% by the end of 2019. Not huge, but better than nothing...and safe...

The collapse of 2007/2008 convinced me that I have to keep some cash as safe as possible...my other investments took a massive hit then...

and with the de-regulation of the finance industry and roll-back of Dodd-Frank, it's easy to see a repeat of some kind...those bassards are always looking for ways to separate the average Joe from his money, and put it into their own pockets...ram27bat

I just saw an advertisement for one bank offering 2.32% on money market. Minimum investment was $10,000 but it’s better than nothing. Still won’t keep up with inflation though.
