There's a loss-leader offer on a 3-Pack of Smoker's Pride cavendishes over at briar's and stogie's.

33 cents per pouch, free shipping.

Hope I didn't "overbid"!

Been seeing that pop-up in ads for a while, so last night I bit. I've smoked the black cavendish and include it in the description "cheap black cavendish". Never tried the Vanilla or Cherry and I have very little hope for the Cherry - the few dozen I've tried did taste good or had a unacceptable bite. I really should break out some of the old cobs or buy some new ones. I would really like to find an inexpensive hickory pipe.

Thanks for the confirmation. yep, most cherry or vanilla flavored cheapo's I've tried had almost no discernable flavor-either the topping or the baccy!

My local shpo has a pretty good cherry blend for the few times I've really wanted flavored tobacco. Normally I want the leaf-probably why I'm partial to English and straight or lightly cased codger blends.

It shows as $9.99 because you posted the "after-transformation" URL for us. For us to see the special promo price, you have to use the "before-transformation" URL.

Same as on the mothership site (because the mothership owns this pipe site too, so they use the same software). For example, you type in "[mothership].com/SA101" or similar and you see the special low price, but the URL bar turns into "[mothership].com/p/name-of-cigars/123456/" or similar. If you cut-n-paste THAT URL and give it to someone, they won't see the low promo price. You have to give them the INITIAL URL that's similar to "[mothership].com/SA101".

They do this so if one guy sees an "SA101" sort of promo URL somewhere, chances are he'll cut-and-paste the URL from his browser's URL bar and email/text it to his buddies... and they'll see the full, normal price, because he didn't send the INITIAL URL before it got transformed.

Do you have the INITIAL one, that activates the low promo price, BEFORE it gets transformed to the regular no-promo-price URL in the URL bar? Thanks.

I ordered off a pop up ad and got the $1 price with no special code, if I overpaid a penny I'm happy.

The pop-up probably went to the special URL that got instantly transformed into the non-special one, so you never saw the special one that gives the discount. Thus, you can't share it. Clever of them.

Me, I block all ads of all kinds (AdBlock Plus configured for maximum ad blockage), so I would never see that pop-up.

The other way they distribute the deal is in print or email with the special URL, and they just have to hope you cut-and-paste the post-transformation, non-special URL to others. You CAN cut-and-paste and share the special (pre-transformation) URL, but I guess they just have to hope you don't.
