We got a call two days ago from my wife's father who has been battling bladder cancer for a few years now. He had finished up his 4th treatment of chemo a few months back. He had called to let us know that his recent check up shows him to be cancer free.

A dang good reason to celebrate.

Huge grats to you both and prayers for continued success.

Time to celebrate!! Beer

It's been 8 year, 5 months, 3 days since my last round of Chemo and 7 years, 9 months, 20 days since my 5th and final surgery related to my brain cancer. Overjoyed for anyone who has survived that ordeal. Beer

No that comes when they do the colonoscopy. Right when you realize that hose is not a hose and the Dr's scrub pants is around his ankles. Then he tells you "Don't worry, Dr, Patient confidentiality Anxious

Good news to hear!

I recall quite a few years ago my PSA was above 4. The doc here sent me for a biopsy. Turned out negative. But I was sitting there by myself in one of those little sterile looking examination rooms wondering... and thinking about a hundred different scenarios. Then the doc came in and said... Good news. No cancer. Then I realized how stressed I was about it while sitting there.

Then a couple of years later the PSA was up to 11. Crap... Sent me for another biopsy. Sitting alone in another dank little exam room waiting again. Will I live or will I die... more or less. But, again, the doc came in and said... negative. I guess you just don't understand the relief of that until it happens to you.

Now the PSA is like 32 or something... I'm not letting them drill any new holes in my prostate that already has like 36 scar filled holes in it now.

Yep and that is the thing I never have understood. Why so many people don't seem to grasp that every single person that has ever been told the horrible word of cancer, this is the very first thing they go through and they go through it every single day and night, every minute pretty much until told otherwise. The sleepless nights, the worried filled days. To get the news of "Its gone" is not just a blessing of it being gone but also a blessing of having that endless stress lifted. It just makes my skin crawl thinking about it. Ehh, one of the wonders of being a a person that is highly sensitive to others feelings and emotions I guess. This is a reason that I avoid crowds.
