I am good with this. But I am confused. I thought the Posse Comitatus act made this illegal. Can anyone straighten this out for me?

I would think protecting the border from thousands of non-citizens trying to march through the front door would be a national security issue, thus would make it the domain of the military.

I know victor says equating them to invaders is simply a meme and has no relevance on reality, but I call BS on that... I haven't seen the memes, and don't need to have seen them to consider a bunch of foreigners waving their country flags on the way to our front gates an invasion.

The military cannot act as border enforcement. IE make arrests. They will be there as "support" only.

The Canadian boarder is a bit long....

No nation could invade us by air.
the baggage fees alone would kill them.

Heard they are from Cape Horn, Chile. One way flights there. Make the next walk a bit longer next time.

I've softened my Machine Gun Nests and Landmines platform.

I've become a liberal.

Yes. IMO it is an illegal act under this law. But, trump is confused as to his powers under the constitution. Sounds like he is going to try and strike down the 14th amendment by executive order in the near future. So what's the difference to his administration? ram27bat

I believe Spey was asking about sending troops to the boarder not the use of Executive Order to revise the 14th Amendment.

Both boarder states and the POTUS have sent troops to the boarder many times in the past and that is not in question as far as it's legality.

Sorry.... This is bugging me.

BORDER goddammit! BORDER!!!!!

Multiple people have misspelled it... It isn't just one person, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a phone autocorrect issue. But it's driving me crazy when I see it over and over

Ok.... Carry on....

DED. I believe I answered Spey's question with this statement: "Yes. IMO it is an illegal act under this law. But, trump is confused as to his powers under the constitution." My comment about the 14th amendment was that I believe his administration could care less about what is legal under the constitution &/or the laws of this country as long as it fits into their agenda. Certainly, a straw-man argument and not unique to the Republican party. horse

Yeah, they're trying to cross the border so they can become boarders.

You need to go to a shrink if you actually think these people are going to kill you. The odds are approximately 1 in 138,324,873 that you'll be killed by an illegal immigrant terrorist. Wake up! This is all just last minute fear mongering at it's worst. horse

The new litmus test for how we make laws:

What is the percentage chance that you'll be killed by it?

I guess we can stop worrying about global warming.

On September 11th, 2001 19 terrorists murdered 2977 people. They injured 6000 others. Are there terrorists in the mob coming to our border? I don't know. Why not make these people follow our laws and be properly vetted? The people murdered on 9/11 won't disagree with you, they can't.

At first it was 800 troups being sent....

Days later, increased to 5000 troops being sent....

Wed. IT was increased to 15,000 troops....

How many armed troops does it take to keep out tired people carrying kids and sleeping bags?

Riddle me this: how the f**k do you sleep on a railroad tie while using the iron rail as a pillow?

I don't think any of troops could even do that.

Equating troops fighting ISIS in a foreign land and troops helping with logistical support on our southern border is a little insulting don't you think?

Wouldn't be a fair fight.

My history may be a little blurry, but when Bush Jr. was president, wasn't the left saying we should be focusing more on our problems at home?

Not sure when the narrative flipped to "let's do everything we can to ghetto this place up".

They're like... oh nozzzzzzz!

We're hemorrhaging votes... People are doing better now, working their way up, the economy is going up... what do we do?!?!?!?!?!

Let's flood the lower states with poor people from 3rd world countries and tell the people that the right are monsters for not agreeing.

That's a greaaaaaaat idea!!!

Let's do it.

I'm sure the conversation went something like that.

pretty sure many were saying to go after the actual people responsible for 9/11, not Saddam.
That Iraq stuff opened sealed borders for every crazed terrorist affiliation and forced a different foreign policy...starting with JR.
Eventually, we did cut back.
Now what?
