One of my hiking buddies sent me this:

A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost. She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below. She shouts to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am." The man consults his portable GPS and replies, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude. She rolls her eyes and says, "You must be a Republican!" "I am," replies the man. "How did you know?" "Well," answers the balloonist, "everything you tell me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you're not much help to me." The man smiles and responds, "You must be a Democrat." "I am, replies the balloonist. "How did you know?" "Well," says the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."

A tomato is, in fact, a fruit. They are considered a vegetable by some, but botanical facts don't care about your feelings. LOL

“Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”

Wisdom is better than knowledge.

Ha ha. It's always nice to experience the outdoors, and to get away from society...

I'm getting ready for my last big hike of the season this weekend.

Take care Frank.

not "some"... just about everybody.... except a few contrarians

you guys are like the smug smart azz dweeb who thinks he's being cool, knowing factoids that are not socially relevant...other scientifically categorized "fruits" like tomatoes that are commonly used as vegetables are cucumbers, squash, peppers, avocados...all of which are found near other vegetables in the produce area.....do you ever see any of them in a fruit salad?

it's like calling a non-Kleenex tissue by it's correct term: facial tissue, instead of kleenex...who does that, and why?

the SCOTUS decided that tomatoes are VEGETABLES more than a century ago...

True, though having bits of tomato in a fruit salad would probably be preferable to having bits of zucchini (which are also botanically a fruit) in it ...

or habeneros or jalapenos or even bell pepper...all botanically fruits but not commonly recognized, or used, as fruits...

Nix v. Hedden, 149 U.S. 304 (1893), was a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States that, under U.S. customs regulations, the tomato should be classified as a vegetable rather than a fruit.
