I don't think I'm getting placebos(I'm sure I'm not )...I agree with the longer lasting...the edibles can be purchased in different size doses..you can get 5mg 10mg up to 160mg gummies....my personal experience is that the edibles do not hit my brain cells so much as an overall body type of relaxed....I'm not saying there is no high feeling, but not as much or as intense...I'm not a Dr., but I've had a little experience with both, so I'm just relaying what I've experienced....I find the edibles much better for pain relief, and smoke ables for brain relief....take it as my experience....ymmv

I think back to conversations with big Chief about MMJ. His doctor told him to go get some. We had some great phone calls about that. I was telling him DO IT! Why not? Get some relief man. Damn he made me laugh when I was on the road drinking like a complete fool talking to him nightly. Lmao

I miss the guy. I'm sure he's looking down and laughing his ass off.

I was messing around with you man...everyone's experience is clearly different and everyone's reaction changes significantly after more exposure... It sounds like you probably either have a decent tolerance or get some low mg edibles...

For a new consumer, someone without a lot of thc experience, edibles can be absolutely disastrous... The high will be far more intense, and the introduction of 11-hydroxy means a more extreme psychoactive effect... that's just the science of it...

I understand what you mean by it being more of a body than a head high... That generally has more to do with indica vs. sativa than it does method of consumption, but i know what you mean...

"Straight to the dome" was an expression that got thrown around a lot when I was younger... It's the idea of feeling the entire effect immediately... And that's definitely not something you'll ever experience with edibles...

It's like the difference between crashing your car head first at a hundred miles per hour into phucked-up-land verses taking a nice slow drive and finding a nice parking spot on main street... Your destination is technically pretty much the same but the way you view your surroundings is going to be vastly different...

yep! and that's the thing as with any medication from aspirin to opioids to MMJ the affects can be very different than "normal" from person to person. I know one gall that dearly loves the stuff but she gets paranoid as Phug no matter the strain or amount taken in. I know another fellow that gets nauseated every time no matter the strain, amount taken, which, is a contraindication to "normal effects"

I hate using the term experiment especially with any medication but, I will for this I guess. Find a strain that works well for your needs. Find the amount needed to take care of your needs, Find what type of intake works best for your needs.(edibles, smoking, vaping) Your body makes the rules for you and everyone's is different. Me I am an Indica guy. For me it works well for my pain, mood, anxiety and very little goes a long long way for me. If I use sativa I feel good but I want to get up and do chit like a mad man. It does not relax me very much because I want to constantly run, go, and do so, it does not help with my pain as well due to being constantly tense from the running and doing which was my problem to start with. It took trying both strains and finding the amount needed for my bodies rules and honestly I have no clue if this is the "normal" or not. Also, before I started MMJ my average sleep cycle was 2 to 3 hours sleep 24 to 48 hours awake. One to two puffs before I lay down I sleep an average of 7 hours minimum to 9 hours every night and wake up feeling alert, pain free, and active through out the day. Which if I understood Opel right is a contraindication from the normal. This is what got me off the sleep sedative I was prescribed to take every night and off all pain medications I was having to take. Not to mention able to come off of the lorazepam I was having to take for anxiety. My body and its messed up rules I guess Brick wall .

Yeah?

From what I am told my issues are not uncommon. A lot of folks stay tensed up all the time. Where the Docs are running into a wall with me is why. With most folks it is due to stress. With me even though I have the health issues due to stroke and heart attack I am really not stressed on a day to day basis. When I say stressed I mean worrying all the time and such. Yet, my muscles stay locked up tight 24/7 so much so that every day when I wake up, my jaw, teeth and gums are so tender from being clenched while I sleep, The left arm is almost limp, and the left shoulder and Peck hurt like a MF. The bad part is ,where I have had my oyster cracked open, those muscles at the peck and left shoulder are always in pain. Not to mention the constant being worn out due to this muscle clinching.

I remember when I was training a Neuro Lab in DC a bunch of new techs. We would have patients come in for an EMG and NCS. When I would run across a patient that had continuous faciculations in some part of the body, the Docs would kind of perk up and get this "Oh mY we got to fix this" attitude. The new techs was like why would the docs get in this bent kind of shape. I would have to sit and explain but over the course of time I got tired of explaining because they should have come out of school knowing this. So I would just tell em, Make a fist and clinch it tight, they would, then I would say, now hold that for 24/7 for the next 3 months. With that it would hit em. "Oh the muscle becomes fatigued and burns it self out" Then of course I would be like DUH!!! lmaooo then through in the "Also this is a symptom of possible ALS" but, even if the person does not have ALS, over time they will lose this muscle if something is not done to give it rest time.

Sorry for the flash back but Meh it is what it is.

I am so glad I do not have to worry with the drug testing any more. If I did my two choices would be taking muscle relaxers every day or making some sort of life change to where I could stay on the MMJ and here is where we hit the brick wall. Taking more big pharma meds or burning the natural plant. Job or a more lenient job. That is kind of where I get pissed at our rules and society. Just because a person has the drug in their system does not mean they are doing it on the job. But, we can hold that discussion for a later date lol.

Apologies for the book. Beer

I have often thought if my muscle pain was from being tense 24/7 That's interesting. I ran into a wall with my family doctor. I HATE taking muscle relaxers. The next day im in a fog. Cant think clearly. That is a job for me without them. LOL!

I have also thought it was a sensitivity to pain. Makes sense on one hand but doesn't on another. 20 years of doctors prescribing non narcotic pain meds has done nothing for me. I don't want to go down the opiate road. For one its a total pain to get them. Then it requires more and more. I don't want that at all.

If my employer gave a crap about my health he would leave me alone. I don't drive a truck anymore but still have the license and can drive if needed when someone is sick or on vacation.

Oh well time will tell. Seems like it was working witch is unbelievable to me. Something so simple and I cant use it. Rather they force feed me the pharmaceuticals.

I am with you brother. That is why I hate taking those types of meds. Because of my stroke I stay in a fog with out medication and thinking clearly is a huge tiring job in it self but it is intensified 10 fold for me when I am taking pharmaceuticals. So, I avoid them like the plague. I personally would rather fail a drug test smoking weed and be able to have whats left of my mind vs passing the test by taking legal script drugs but not able to out think a rock. Just my OP for me lol.

Yeah avoid that opiate chit like the clap! I think they have their place but should be an absolute last resort in my book.

Talk about it working, I have gotten to experience case studies in my career on people using MMJ for all kinds of issues from pain to Parkinson's disease. In the 5 years of the studies we had done never could we find any downfall health wise neurologically on adult people or chimps but the positive out comes was nothing but astounding with the issues they had. With things being what they are, it did not take us long to realize it is really all about the dollar when it came to things like Laws, FDA, Government etc. They will kill you fast or slow for a dime and do not give one little chit on your comfort, well being, quality of life unless they can make a penny off of you. Even more so they prefer being able to make money off of your needs long term. Prime example, Cigarettes. Them things have been manipulated to make sure a person becomes addicted for the soul purpose of long term income yet even though they now put the warnings etc the FDA to this day puts the stamp of approval on em but with MMJ lmaoooo, With some of the best neuro Docs in the world signing off on the benefits and the studies showing how well it works and how much better it is vs say opiates. The FDA says HELL NO! why? MONEY. That is when I knew, no matter how much horse **** the government pumps out about WE The People and how we got to take care of our own. It is all smoke up the ass. They don't give one chit about any one unless they can be a cash cow and if you get to where you can not be their cash cow, you are left on the side of the road to die and no one thinks twice.

Sorry for the rant, I am just in one of those moods.

Any time man, just keep in mind my experience with testing and case studies was a 4 to 5 years back so there could be new evidence, studies, out. More or less my knowledge is just the experience from back during my career so do not take it as fact because its outdated.

It got me to laughing thinking about this. People think that since MMJ brings you down that it slows brain activity. That is not true at all. When I would have teens come in for an EEG due to seizures, as a technologist we would ask the parents to say out in the waiting room. So it was just the kid and the technologist. Any how, one of the questions asked is do you use recreational drugs. The weed smokers of course would say No. I would get them hooked up and start the EEG. First thing I would see is the Beta buzz. I would start laugh my ass off because as a technologist I was trained to read EEGs.

Here is a great comparison video to where you can see the normal activity and after using MMJ. The left is normal the right is after smoking. This is using a standard 28 channel set up on the EEG machine and the 10/20 international system. It is pretty interesting. Well it is for me cause it was my life lol.

Bwahahah sorry man, I am quick to snap back into Neuro mode when I can cause I miss it.

What I should have said is on that video, it is a standard hook up on an electroencephalograph machine. This machine is what is used to read the electrical output of the brain and you can see in the video comparing when not smoking and when smoking the changes in the brains electrical out put.

With what is shown you can see on the right side of the video the brain actually becomes very active when smoking. Most people think that it slows the brain down, it does not. What I have always found funny is, kids would lie about using Mary Jane, I would get them hooked up and see a reading like what is seen on the right side of the video. I automatically knew right off they bat they they was indeed using and that they was telling a lie.

So, this shows two great facts about Mary Jane in my mind. One, no one can beat the machine so don't lie if you are using and having an EEG lol.

two it shows that even though mary jane is used to bring the body down, the brain becomes hyper active. Hence, this might be but not known as a fact yet that why people tend to create more, have awesome ideas, music sounds so much better, food taste better, better moods etc and so on when using.

three, its just some kick ass science which I am very fond of lol. Herfing

Way too high on a eatable to even know what I should type here.

God 20mg eatable will jack you up! A hour and a half after eating it and I probably couldn't tell you my name.

Pain level before the THC was a 8.5 on the chart.
With eatable 20mg deliciousness it's about a 4

I'd definitely say it takes my mind off the pain. I could never work high like this. I'm all jacked up on MTN dew!!!!!

Lol... Sip warm coffee, engage your mind in a simple but challenging task... Do not attempt sleep... When you regain balance take a shower... If you freak out, remind yourself, no one has ever died from this, you're not having a heart attack, and this can be enjoyable if you relax...

Have fun! Edibles are a different beast...

Also, if you sleep coop, you're gonna miss the best part... Hours 3 and 4 are great for the aforementioned munching and cartoons... The new season of South park is pretty great... Especially the one where Randy moves the family to a marijuana farm and refers to vape pens as "p*ssy sticks"...

My favorite is where the kids of South park lie about their age and buy ninja weapons at the fair, one of em hits Kyle in the head with a throwing star, then they glue dog hair on him and take him to the vet for medical attention. Anxious

So I didn't tell nurse Dawn about taking an edible.
She looked at me and said are you on something?
I looked at her and said I'm so high. And started laughing. She said are you hurting and I said oh I'm not hurting.

20 mg is a hefty dose for a first timer...........too hefty.
Next time, take 5 mg.......you most likely won't feel it......still, wait an hour or so, and if you feel nothing, then take another 5.
My guess is that will be perfect.
How much food you have in your stomach will also impact the edible punch.
Eating them on an empty stomach? Watch out....

I tore up some chips. I truly enjoyed being basically pain free.
That it self is a blessing.
All kidding aside when nurse Dawn asked if I hurt I said no with tears of joy. Nothing has gave my body relief like that.
