I don't normally resort to name calling but will make an exception on occasion.

What a ****ing moron.

Someone is starving for a book deal......

He couldn’t win his party nomination in his home state so he quit.

just like the new group of elected Dems made a statement by the electorate about the direction of the party going forward (away from far left fringe for the most part), I'd like to see the GOP trend toward Flake's direction.

then there might be a return to Making America Work again. Both sides could gain some of each pie rather than the all or nothing bare knuckle gridlock we have now.

He has no chance of unseating Trump, if the Democrats run Hillary again neither do they.

hoping to avoid that. I was wrong a few years back expecting the tea party to turn the GOP into unaffiliated fragments...

Hoping young blood like MA rep Moulton can force out the new/old Speaker and her friends...still looking for someone to represent me.

I am also not thinking Flake has the stuff to be POTUS.

Anth, are we crazy to think if Teddy K and Nixon could have ever worked on health care together...

if Tip O'Neil and Ronnie managed to get many things worked out...

just two of the odd couples that made it work as opposing administrations replaced each other...

are we insane to think there's new blood that could do the same?

Unfortunately, it’s the “new blood” that’s refusing to work together.

But voters don't want that.
If they did, McCain would have won. (for instance).

Each side claims to "like" members from the other side that trend towards the middle.
But when their own side does it they treat them like lepers.
For every R vote lost by McCain for being too far "left", he would need a D vote from those claiming to want a candidate in the middle.

and you've been right, but the Dems not only brought new kids to Washington, but also Governors' Mansions as well.
In a couple of years, this will impact more federal elections. And as is usually the case in sports, manufacturing and politics, copycats emerge...I'm looking at GOP changes going forward.

I think (hope) this is a harbinger of voters worn out from the fringe crap. I believe we saw a surge in younger voters, hope this is the result...that it is what voters want going forward.

Peace. Love. Woodstock Nation.

Younger voters want the Bernie Sanders.
Why stop at free healthcare?
Free college.
Free, free, free.

98.2% of college kids either aren't old enough to vote or don't. This surge was likely the 25-40 year olds...I admit I'm guessing.

and Bernie won't be at the front for too much longer, not that he ever controlled the party base as he was really Independent but ran D in the primaries. Winning the Independent Party ticket equals no chance. It was a calculated move that was smart and would have worked if he had not been cheated.

I know you really mean free tuition at state schools, not free college anywhere, though it sounds worse to just say free.

I tell my kids: You think college is expensive now? Wait until it's free.
