It is proven that as we get older it is common to resist change and I have found that in many aspects of life I’m the poster child against change.

But recently I discovered wi-fi light switches and these things are slicker than owl sh*t. I don’t foresee Alexa and her friends moving in anytime soon but do see more wi-fi switches at my disposal.

I had a lighting/security concern due to a faulty garage door opener light. A long story involving the opener, hurricane rated door and the faulty light which I will not get into. Main concern was for the wife coming home at night to a dark garage especially if I was not at home.

With the installation of a few switches the wife can now activate the garage light along with others prior to getting home and aid her in getting her into the house safely. I have also incorporated a few plug-in wi-fi switches along with the others that allows me to control mores lights and give the appearance that we are home when in fact we are not.

I’m sure there are any number of dependable brands available, but I used the Leviton Decora Smart switches primarily because one of the cubs had used and was familiar with them.

Any thoughts or experiences with other recommended brands?

I don't trust "WI-FI"...

The following has NADA TO DO WITH GARAGE LIGHT SWITCHES.,

JUST WATCH the "sir/lord" of ? England scientist who studied microwave radiation on YOUTUBE...
HE SAID NO SCHOOL SHOULD HAVE WI-FI...

IT FRIES AN UNDERAGE FEMALE INTRA UTERAN OVARY EGG SUPPLY before they get old enough to have kids.
It messes with underage male sperm counts and they swim in circles when exposed to WI-fi...
IT messes with kids NOGGINS and DNA...
ANNDDDDD THAT IS ONLY 1G-4G...

That English scientist said every 4G signal should be a hard wired connection with "guarded cables" to not let WI-FI emit from the cable either...
THIS "NEW 5G" IS downright harmful to any living thing...
It knocks birds out of the sky @ the Hague in the Netherlands during a test run experiment start up...
5G needs 4-5 times as many towers as 4G...
It needs plug in "boosters" upstairs and in the basement which fry humans even more...

I turn off the cable box and the WI-FI at night...
I put my cell phone on AIRPLANE MODE all the time now.

I thought Alexa was on it. I just got my first Alexa thing, and Amazon wanted me to get Gen3, instead of the Gen2 I bought....primarily, they said because Alexa could take control of my entire house and not just my thoughts

Sold commercial lighting for many years. Used Leviton wireless switches twice. Was not impressed. Primarily used Lutron in a commercial grade. Was impressed. Use the commercial grade that is correct for your application. PM me if you have any questions.
