At a very generous estimate of 2M/day it's going to take 4 years to get the 3BB that even the low end estimates put the wall at.

That's even assuming that you will get consistent funding across the entire 4 years (ie, it's likely everyone who wants to fund it will do so in the first month... Not likely to see the same rate of funding at the end of 2 months, let alone 4 years)

Bottom line... I hope that this GoFundMe project has a plan in place for giving the money back to the people if the funding level isn't reached. Or I guess I hope that whoever is handing over their money doesn't mind it being pocketed by whoever started the GoFundMe.

1 Billion, which is the max that GoFundMe allows.

.... So he's starting underfunded. That's not good.

So it'll take a year at this rate to reach his goal, it's unlikely that this rate will be sustained for an entire year, and even if he reaches his goal (after a year or more) the money will only be sufficient to build a portion of the wall.

Yeah... This is not going to result in anything more than a stunt.

We could do this like buying bricks and you get your name on them, you will be remembered for years to come.

Zito... If 100k people donating got him to 6MM we're looking at an average donation of 60$ per person.
To reach his 1B goal he'll need to get 16.66M people to donate.

That's actually possible... But he's still a long way away.

Victor, I agree with the fact that's it's a long shot and interest waning over time. Brian may be on Fox News and Fox Business today and tomorrow so if there is going to be a big interest push it will come in the next week or so. I guess we will see.

I'd pay some amount of money to have my middle name on a brick in our southern border wall. Did I ever mention that my middle name is "trump sucks azz"?

$9,672,800

Raised by 159,573 people in 3 days

At that rate it will take a bit less than a year.

This will be interesting.

Interesting... Should we make predictions as to what it'll reach?

I mean, it's done better than I expected... But I think there's a limit, and I bet one could make some educated guesses as to what value it'll reach based on average donation and number if supporters.

Mexico was totes gonna pay for it... But now that they see we got it handled by the GoFundMe, they're just gonna spend that money on helping caravans head north.

the actual cost of a border wall is much higher than $5 Billion that Trump wants...that is just the start...

US Border Patrol has set a cost of $18 Billion for 722 miles of wall in their high priority areas. That leaves 2/3 of the border without a solid barrier. To simplify, a barrier along the entire border, almost 2,000 miles, would be $50 billion plus...

that's $50 billion in today's dollars...prolly be much higher when you factor in inflation and cost over-runs that happen with nearly every large public works project...

Meh... They won't get it. But it's an interesting sociological experiment.

I bet economist and people who study tax theory will examine the results of this for years to come.

$13,648,579 in 4 days = $3.4M per day. If donations continue at this pace, the $1B mark day is around October 4, 2019.

I'm thinking we need some kind of contest. I'll see if I can't come up with something similar to the College Football contest. Perhaps people can offer up an ante and make some sort of wild ass guess about something.

Depending on who's analisis you believe, illegals cost the American tax payer between $100 and $330 billion dollars EACH year. If the wall works, wouldn't it be worth the investment, considering what illegals cost us now?

None of this matters anyway, because only Congress can appropriate funds for this type of thing.

That is how the government is supposed to work- they do the work of what the people want, with the people's money. People want a wall, we should have a wall.

Anybody have a CBA on a wall vs a minefield?

Seems to have stalled out a bit. Only $17M at 11 days.
Gone up about 3.5M over the past week. Staying consistent at about 60$/person...which is interesting.

Dunno if the slowing has been because it's essentially running out of steam, or if the holidays are interfering...

A general assumption would be that most people interested in funding it would do so shortly after hearing about it. Most people don't decide to fund anything suddenly, weeks after knowing it needed money.

So I'm going to bet there will be a slight surge after the new years... Then it'll peter out may hit 24M by end of Jan.
