Good thing I don't care about the Chargers Ravens game. FIOS has dropped our CBS station. Hope they get it unf**d so I don't have to buy an antenna just to watch the Super Bowl.

Cheapest near me is $2.88 at Sam's club for the regular. $3.19 for diesel, and $3.08 for premium.

Meh. I just stop wherever I'm closest when I'm low on gas. Usually pay like $4 to 4.50.... but it doesn't really matter that much a buck here or there.

yeah, had to explain to The Lovely Caren that if she needed 10 gallons and drove to another town to save even 10 cents a gallon (not happening) she'd save a whole dollar!
Now she just stops as needed.

Yeah ... And honestly I'm not even willing to spend the time to pull off along the way. When I had to travel 35 mi for work, I planned it so I would only fill up at a couple locations. Had nothing to do with cost and everything to do with reducing travel time. 2 minutes extra time in my car that I could spend doing something else is worth more to me than the $ savings... And honestly, given that im paid by the hour it's probably literally worth more to me to work 2 minutes than to drive around looking for cheaper gas.

depending on your car, you're likely to burn the fuel equivalent to the cash saved by driving extra miles to fill up...but I always gas up at Costco when I shop there...usually 30-40 cents cheaper than the stations near my house...the store is about 7 miles away, and I go there to shop anyway...

Shop at Sam's... fill up when I go there. $.40 a gallon cheaper for diesel... 26 gallon tank. 22 gallons is almost $9 difference per tank. Over a year, that's a lotta dough.

If you're buying diesel, you want a busy station that has high turnover. Diesel doesn't do well when it sits for long periods.

So I don't know what your Sam's or Costco is like. But I once accidentally drove into a Costco parking lot, and in a desperate attempt to get out, I accidentally drove into the one way gas station line.

I was completely speechless. Cars 10 deep waiting in line, idling to get gas because it was cheaper.

I was furious with myself for getting stuck in the line (I don't do suburbs, I simply am no longer used to how the traffic patterns around these large parking lots are set up) and desperately turned around to get out (there literally was no way to just drive through without waiting in line with all these people.... It was bizarre)...

Point being... If your Costco or Sam's club gas station has a line, you're probably spending more money waiting in it than you're saving. I know my time is more valuable than that.

Yeah, there is sometimes a line, but nothing like Costco. Sam's I may have to wait 5-10 minutes. No way I burn 9 dollars of fuel in 10 minutes, and as I said... I'm already there to shop at the store.

I'm not talking fuel cost. 10min of your time is worth a lot of money. I would assume that 10 min of your time is in excess of 9$ in wages.

Somewhere along the line, a number of years ago, I started looking at everything in terms of hours of my life... I think it was when the woman lost a piece of jewelry... I did a bit of math in my head, and given that I am paid directly hourly, made a calculation of how much of my life she lost.

It depressed me greatly. But gave me a perspective on things like sitting in a car or driving around looking for parking.

how is it possible you did not know of the great Rod Serling/Twilight Zone?

Before I was thrown out of my first college high above Cayuga's waters (not the Ithaca end, but the northern end of that finger lake) I actually met him in a wonderful restaurant across from the lake...probably late Winter/early Spring 1971.
He lived up there, which may explain his amazing mind.

Ya know... I said something similar to my doctor when I was seen 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment. He may make more an hour than I do, but my time is just as valuable to me as his is to him.

For a few cents a gallon, maybe even up to 10 cents, I agree with you. Not worth it. For me, I think as much as the $9 it's the principal... if Sam's can sell it 40 cents cheaper a gallon, the other places are fkn gouging me.

I guess I’m lucky. The Shell station I s a mile and a half from the house. I pass it every morning when I leave out. I’m always able to pull up to the pump without any wait at al.

Winning.

Good morning everyone. Headed to New Orleans this morning. My niece is flying in to visit.

Got an email from someone on botlorg that I'd done a 3Floyds beers for cigars trade with 4 years ago and he wanted to do it again. Ran to 3F yesterday and was shocked at how much they raised their prices. Didn't seem to have any impact on the lines and crowds though.

Now off to post office and stuff. Think I'll get some meat for the smoker.

Krispy Kreme still around in places? There were two stores by me that were always busy until suddenly they weren't. They are now bulldozed and new things built.
