So she is running for president in 2020. Can't we have at least one Democrat run who I want to vote for? Is that to much to ask for? Maybe Victor is correct, 8 years of president Trump.

What's wrong with Corey "Spartagus" Booker?

Seems there's an awfully long list in the wings. I'm sure you'll find someone. Who's on your short list?

At this point no one. I will take a long look at whoever is the Libertarian candidate.

I'm a little surprised. I don't have a problem with it...I always take a hard look at all the candidates, especially the libertarians.
But, we're not within a decade or more of having a truly viable 3rd party candidate for president, I don't think.
I would have predicted you'd be looking for a Bloomberg, Warner, Bustos (tho she probably is more like 2024), or Biden, even...

If Trump doesn't really f up for the next 21 months, he's all but assured the R nom. Anyone who wants Trump for another term should be rooting for Warren, Harris, Sanders, etc. Trump's got a reasonable shot at beating all of the left-most dems, IMO. I would have pegged you for an 'anyone other than Trumper'...and if that were me, I'd be hoping for a somewhat right of left dem who could still get just enough progressive primary votes to earn the D nomination

Dave, I'm more moderate, though certainly liberal. I fit into the Kennedy Democrats, but they don't exist anymore. I liked Reagan Republicans, but they don't exist anymore. I guess I am an independent. Most of my viewpoints are liberal, but some are conservative.

Spey....I'm shocked it took you this many years to realize I'm usually correct. ;)

There's an interesting number that's been tossed around recently. 33%.... It's apparently a number that represents voters who seem to stick with trump regardless of what he says. This would be his guaranteed base... The "shoot someone on 5th Ave and they'll still support me" people.

We already know that due to the electoral college, he doesn't even need a 50%+ to win... He just needs somewhere in the 40s.. he's got 33% regardless. So any candidate which would cause that extra 10% of republican voters to come out and vote for little hands mcpeepants will ensure a republican win.

2019 will change the whole conversation about who is running for President...pretty sure that Trump will not be the GOP nominee...

and Warren will not be the Dem nominee, since the GOP has demonized her over the past 3-4 years...their negative branding helps to create doubts in the minds of potential independents who may've voted for her if she hadn't had all the negative tags attached for years...most people don't delve too deep into a candidate's record...explains why bumper stickers were so effective...

the Dems should play the same game...try to predict potential GOP POTUS candidates and continually blast them so that there is a stigma attached that is difficult for independents to see past...kinda like the derisive tag "Spartacus" the cons have attached to Booker...

Trump was a master at this "branding"...."lying Ted," "Little Marco," "Low Energy Jed", "have you seen her face Carly"

My belief in your correctness is still an unknown set. Where as my belief in your correctness about Trumps relection is now a known set. You are assuming there are overlapping regions :) Actually there are. But it's such simple math to overlook.

I'm well aware of that, Spey. I would consider both you and Frank Kennedy Democrats, or in other words "true traditional liberals". In the past, traditional conservatives and traditional liberals have come to comprimisses that have been good for the nation. The problem today is that both parties are being driven by the extremes so comprimise is nearly impossible. I've personally been a registered Libertarian for the past 20 years, and have voted that way. Last November is the first time in 20 years that I've broken tradition and voted Republican. Mainly in an attempt to rid the Senate of the crook Bob Monendez. I feel Trump has a multiple of character flaws and cringe everytime he tweets, but if the Dems run a Marxist leftest in 2020, I'll have no choice but to give my vote to Trump.

It's a shame there is no more comprise. We have had gridlock for so many years. Now it seems everything is a fight, America has been lost somewhere in translation. The left certainly seems to want a Socialist society at a minimum, at a maximum a Communist society. The right seems to want a Totalitarian society, at a maximum a Faschist society. Both sides are ran by special interest groups. They America I grew up in and loved seems to be gone. The sadness of it is you and I and Frank and Joe could sit down and reach a reasonable comprise that would be good for all. Our politicians should be able to do the same. No truer words have been spoken that they are a parliament of whites.

So.....how often has a POTUS candidate produced a LIST of SCOTUS candidates that they would consider before they were even elected?

We are to believe the militant left weren’t banging closets for skeletons within the list?

And the paid accusers who made up stories?

Hmmmmm....lemme think on that Delta.

Spey tell me about this “compromise” you speak of......

What we were used to seeing was capitulation disguised and bitartisanship to make people still seem palatable to voters so that the same people could remain in office so that they could both continue to F*** John Q Taxpayer.

Z, I was speaking about what our politicians should be able to do. Something I think many average Americans are capable of doing. What I think Kennedy Democrats were capable of and Reagan Republicans were capable of. Something our politicians should be capable of. I think that most here could reach a compromise. Do you disagree with the idea that many here could agree on a compromise? Maybe a better question is why do you think many here could not agree on a compromise?

Oh I think many here could compromise but I think maybe where your idea gets lost is politicians FIXING problems. They’re hired to battle issues they’ve created, and keep us dividing while blurring the lines of their (governments) role within their enumerated powers. To me it’s like you and I sitting down and saying “well if they only did ______”

Z, I think there was a time when politicians fixed things. That time no longer exists. Which I think is shameful. The constitution hasn't changed and those politicians swore an oath to it.

You think they give 2 schitz about their oath?!!! And I direct that to both parties.....

I agree they used to, and every great once and awhile now do “fix” things but in the context of what common slaves can agree on it has changed for sure.

No, I don't, I am saying the used to and they should now. It goes much deeper than that. They work for special interests. We need to vote against everyone of them. I think those who voted for Trump should be respected for voting against the political establishment.
