You inspired me to do the same... Enjoying the slow cool burn of a Jericho Hill Lancero in the backyard, watching as the two or three hundred strong flock of cedar wax wings decides if the crepe myrtles or the lemon tree or the neighbors oak is the most suitable of places to land... I've seen this movie before, they never do decide, and eventually resolve to fly off as one or two packs in search of who knows what...
The "goldfish" in the pond - once bound to a 15 gallon living room tank - have long outgrown their name... All 3 are close to 8" long, the biggest probably closer to 9, and they're clearly just colorful carp... They're utilizing the cloud cover, along with the rosy red minnows, to pick at algae near the shoreline...
There's a hole fit for a midget grave out here that's destined to become our first outdoor hydroponic pond... Need a Pond liner and a few dozen rosy red minnows in place before I grow anything... Hoping to rig up a system of small clay pots to serve as suitable spawning grounds for them so they can not only fertilize the plants but be occasionally used to take trout or crappie...
I'm anxious to get all the plants out of the house and into the soil... It's tempting to pull the trigger when we've seen 3 consecutive days over 60 degrees... But I've made that mistake before and i don't feel like blanketing plants from frost this year if we end up with a late freeze...
Well I can see I'm more talkative than the hundreds of birds around me so I'll shut up now... Enjoy the afternoon and weekend folks...,
