The road to salary cap hell is littered with teams that bought WRs on the free agent market. It rarely works and he's no Joey Galloway, Roy williams, Keeshawn Johnson or (insert 100 names here)

Brandin Cooks worked out well for the Rams last year...he helped them get to the Super Bowl...but couldn't come up with two possible TD balls in the 4th Q of the Super Bowl that would've changed the game...

Thats a pretty good comparison adn you are right. But lets see what happens from here on out. Cooks was only a 5M cap hit last year but will be a 17M cap hit from here on out.

OBJ will be a 17M cap hit out of the gate and 15M (ish) from there on out. Push the baloon on one side and see what happens on the other.

Amari Cooper worked out ok for the Cowboys last year and now the Raiders get Brown. That will be interesting as well. Brown will now have Car throwing to him. I wonder if that will change his attitude?

By and large though I think free agent (or high end trades) WRs are pretty risky.

I heard he was a Brown....he'll make a couple of circus catches, and then be bitching about not getting the ball enough....he's a T.O in the making...Not talking

Heh...
For every circus catch he makes, he’ll have 3 drive killing drops drops.

Pat's traded a 4th I believe to get him, got a 1st I believe for him...

had nice numbers, always a longball outside the numbers threat, but tends to go down within a step or two of the catch, and as seen twice in the Super Bowl, just can't or just won't compete for the ball...which may have led to the Pats getting rid of him after one season of glossy stats.

overall, very good NFL receiver, but not THE difference maker.

Cooks is not a big guy, about Edelman's size...and I can picture Edelman catching the balls that Cooks didn't, McCourty's defense notwithstanding...a relentlessness about him if a ball is thrown anywhere near where he can get a hand on it...
Cooks got his hands on those two balls but couldn't bring them in...

which may be why he is not a Pat anymore.
Truth is, the big price tag probably made the decision to move him easy. He did enough to stay here.

If Gronk retires do you think the Pats can make another run? Also right now who do they have at WR other than Edelman?

Yes.
And it won't matter.

The Browns biggest problem is they are the Browns. They are my third favorite team because I find them to be lovable losers. I have a couple Brady Quinn jerseys I picked up really cheap when I was getting a steamer. I love that they suck.

Free agent WRs rarely make much impact on a team. Not never, but rarely.

Folks are talking about the browns being good LOL. It's the Browns. Their ceiling is the shottenheimer years. Their golden age.

Went to a game in 'da burg back when the original Browns were in their last season before moving to Baltimore.
t-shirts being sold: The Browns still suck, but they sucked better in Cleveland.

sounds better in Yiddish...

"As di bubbe volt gehat beytsim volt zi gevain mayn zaidah"

Which means:
"If my grandmother had balls, she'd be my grandfather."
