Saw what ya did there. Angel Sometimes I wonder though if the President has asked himself what have I got to win and what have I got to lose. I'm not a McCain fan but don't see the point in bringing him up in the rhetoric either.

Seems to me he backed his nation more than backing his party.

Even when he disagreed with what they were doing on a very important matter? What did his constituents think about the issue? Party politics are certainly a terrible problem right now.

Apparently trump was upset that no one thanked him for not attending a funeral he wasn't invited to. And his now frequent attacks on mccain are due to that

let that sink in for a little....

The McCain/Conway rants might just have a silver lining....at some point, even though he's managed to keep moving it....at some point Trump will cross a line and Republican congressmen will finally get up off their knees.....maybe even a chunk of his supporters

Demeaning a dead man who served his county faithfully for a lifetime. Exactly what I expect from Trump. Yet there are low life conservatives who will tell you McCain deserves this.

McCain served his country faithfully in the military.

As a politician he was among the lifers that make us all scream for term limits.

He was on my ballot only once, and I checked that box.

Never cared for his overall politics, but never questioned his patriotism.

Most people deserve respect after their death. McCain deserves more respect than most.

Trump is wrong on this. Even if he's right about his complaints he can't gain anything with this line of attack.

I thought it was classless for McCain to request Trump's absence at his funeral. This is worse.

Z, I think I understand why you hate his politics, but why do you hate the man? Even in death you hate a man you do not personally know, who was a veteran, and who was a pow who refused the option of earlier release than his comrades, because some of them had been there longer than he had.

having read the Matt Taibbi profile in Rolling Stone several years ago, I feel the same way about him...for the first half of his life. Admirers would have plenty to reconsider after reading this.

As for the second half, though not someone I could support politically, I came to believe that he was a truly changed man. Still not worthy of my vote, but I've respected many with whom I disagree in and out of professional politics, and grudgingly cut him some slack.

Nonetheless, Trump's recent performance is inexcusable.

I liked him as a man and a patriot and potential President... But he let Trump get to his liver.. IF what has recently been exposed about his intentions to derail Trump's candidacy and attempt to impeach is true well... It hurts my liver...

I don't condone Trump's comments but if I had been attacked it would be hard to let it go... Trump should have.. Mellow

I thought Hillary was supposed to be too emotional to be president?

it should not be hard to let it go when it comes to trashing a dead person.
human decency is the subject here. to let politics change the rules of that is weak.

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Senator and former presidential candidate John McCain is gone but not forgotten. As evidence of this, the White House has revealed that early every morning President Donald Trump makes the trek to McCain’s grave so he can stand there and shout abuse at it.

“So I’m still alive today!” Trump said to McCain’s grave in his last visit. “How about you? Oh. No witty comeback? Ha!” Trump laughed, but then his mood quickly turned darker and he yelled, “You think you’re better than me?!” before kicking the grave and hurting his foot.

“He just hasn’t gotten over McCain’s death,” explained Vice President Michael Pence. “He feels that McCain passed way too early and that there was so much left unsaid between the two of them... mainly in the way of Trump blaming McCain for everything that’s gone wrong.”

So Trump visits McCain’s grave every day, stomping on any flowers people have left on it and yelling about how McCain is “nothing” and that “no one even thinks about him anymore.”

“It’s the most dedicated he has ever been to anyone,” said Trump’s wife, Melania.

Might be willing to extend the advice to others as needed. Can't recall any doing this type of ugly before though.

the problem is made worse when we don't consider our political opponents to be human...

I might have phrased it differently, but, you did hit on what I agree is a major problem today. There's an unbelievable lack of respect for differing political opinions. Forget identity politics....politics IS the identity for so many...and it is so often extremely polar. I guess its another side of the conversations about dearth of civility in political discourse, but it's an amazing lack of respect at the core.
