Seems ridiculous.

But, I do think this makes for a great opportunity. I need to watch Tucker Carlson tonight....odds are good that his head will literally explode

Kidding aside I do wonder what drove their decision. It seems pretty light. More information would be good.

No, but you can fake an attack on yourself and blame it on Neo-Marxists.

If I'm not mistaken, he's still facing the Federal mail fraud charge for sending the threatening letter to himself.

It may just show what good lawyers and money can do for you. I bought my ticket down to no points. It's small time, but without money that doesn't happen.

What other possible conclusion could you draw? And if he is innocent then are his two accomplices guilty of giving false testimony or something like that? I hope they sell out to the talk show circuit.

?
Prosecutors chose to drop the charges. That sounds like a decision made by the prosecution.

I suppose this is where we're supposed to ask whether "The __x__'s will finally STFU and move on"

so what your saying is it was the "Prosecutor's" decision not to engage in the "prosecution"....the FBI "Prosecutor" has not decided the same, that I've heard as of yet...maybe there will be a federal "prosecution"...Think

To be honest, while I don't like him getting away with it, prosecuting a false police report such as this one is a waste of time and resources. Fine the sh*t out of him and send him on his way.

Dropping the charges is ridiculous, though. At a minimum he should be fined for whatever it cost the department to investigate it. All billable hours.

Do we know for sure he did something wrong?

I haven't followed this enough to know, but if it was dropped, doesn't that indicate there's a chance he isn't guilty of anything? He maintains his innocence.

What's that I've been hearing all year or two? Innocent until proven guilty?

It was a bad thing to do, but I found it fishy that they charged him with multiple felony charges.

I heard a rumor that he traded some dirt on his lawyer, Mark Geragos, for a get out of jail card. Mark Geragos has been charged as a co-conspirator in the Michael Avenatti extortion case.

It's all about the Benjamins, baby!

Oh wait, that was a different deal.

But seems to apply here as well, eh?

I wish I had me some Benjamins......

I committed a horrible crime.... but not to worry, I got me some Benjamins!

Or so it seems.

Beer

Ok, I haven't read all the details, but last headline I saw said something about this being turned over to the FBI.

News at 11, eh?

I just read on Huff Post that the prosecutors who dropped the charges still feel he's guilty. They claim that they have to spend their time and resources on prosecuting violent offenders, so they decided to let Smollett go.

Sure they did. We all know someone with power and clout made a phone call.

The bright side is since they just dropped the charges, and did not make a plea deal, he's open for prosecution from the feds.

This was sort of interesting to me

"Cook County First Assistant State Attorney Joe Magats said Tuesday it was his decision alone to dismiss charges against Smollett.

Magats took over the case after his boss, Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx, recused herself from the investigation after it surfaced that she had been in touch with Smollett's family. Magats said he took into consideration Smollett's lack of a criminal history and that the disorderly conduct charges are "low-level" felonies."

Who knows. Interesting dilemma though. Did he get preferential treatment because of fame, money or some will accuse color.... or do we want harsher treatment for the same reasons?

^Of course. He only slandered half the nation and tried to start a race war, but since he's a Neo-Marxist, we'll consider his crimes "low-level". I mean, dang, it was only those ignorant Trump supports he slandered. Now if he had mis-gendered someone, they would have had to throw the book at him.

You failed to mention that E-mail records show that Tina Tchen, Michelle Obama's former Chief of Staff was the one who originally contacted Foxx in consideration of Smollett's family. She had asked for Foxx to take over the investigation from the Chicago Police.

I didn't fail to mention anything. I don't or didn't know that. i do think it's interesting the "deciders" boss was in contact with the family. I don't really care about the conduit given the outraged mayor was also an obamaitte. the obama lust does't appeal to me. something is smelly. but the dilemma still remains.

Slander is an interesting thing. If he truly slandered you you don't need the government's help. Go at it.

There's more bull**** around smollet getting off than my post on dry-cigars...

At the presser - lawyer says the 2 Nigerians admitted to the attack - so that means to Nigerian nationals attacked a gay black man that they work for yelling racial and homophobic slurs, putting a noose around his neck, pouring bleach on him and shouting "this is MAGA country" - 2 mins later smollet says "I have always told the truth about he attack" ....OK

State Attorney says that there's enough evidence to prosecute

DA states that smollet has done good things for the community and has agred to forfeit his bond so we're dropping the charges

Judge seals the evidence so the CPD can't even prosecute teh brothers for the attack...

Yeah nothing to see here... move along

Black Privilege the unfair response to White Privilege, no justice or fairness, just replacing one bad idea with another bad idea. The same sort of thing has happened in so called Chocolate cities like New Orleans, they replaced the good old boy network with a good old bro network.
