Sleepy after date night. Waiting for the kid to come home from prom. Watching an over matched Palace try to come from behind against City.

37 degrees. Not going to get much warmer, and that dog isn't going to walk itself.

Is this still the old 500 ?

Warm here today, spent it working in the yard. Rain coming in about an hour and a half. Exhausted.

Slept great today.

But no work tonight, so that was a waste.

how'd you do with Trump's tax cut this year...we did a little better than I thought we'd do, but not equivalent or close to an actual 3% rebate, which is what our tax rate was cut by...seems we couldn't get the same deduction for state taxes as in the past...

About to finish ours, and lost out with the Kalifornia taxes eliminated/capped. The 28% bracket dropping to 22% helped, but the lower withholding all last year didn't.

Owe a chunk to feds but getting some back from Kalifornia so its not too bad.

Snow is still falling.

Ground is saturated from the rain.

There's some rain mixed with the snow.

Ditch is over the top of the culvert, the low end of the yard is a pond. The swamp looks like a lake with trees sticking up. Sump pump putting in overtime.

Mrs. Beach joined me for a smoke at the lounge. Don't think it's her favorite activity but she's a dam sweetheart for trying

dayum...Mrs.1 still coughs, moans and waves her hands when she walks through the man cave when I'm having a cigar...

I'd prefer she behave like that sweet lady who I met in Kauai who walked over as I smoked a cigar in the smoking area at our timeshare, and commented how wonderful the cigar smoke smelled to her. She said it reminded her of her father, who was a cigar smoker.

I think I wanna go.

$1k prize for a Carolina Reaper eating contest. I love eating contests, and I can handle heat. Dunno if I can handle fresh reapers, but might could give it a try.

Delta, I usually get the faces and gagging. Idk, maybe she's off her meds today

Danm, there was a time that would have been tempting, but I tried a fairly large raw ghost pepper that dam near killed me. (I think anyway. Never got a medical opinion on it)

You need to move.
-Swamp
-Coons
-Ditches filled with garbage and water.

What is the draw of your current location?

Raw peppers usually tear me up.

I do grow habaneros and have grown Scotch Bonnet but the harvest on those is poor due to short growing season here.

The habaneros I make puree, and a pico from them. But I neuter them first, stripping the seeds and placenta.

I can handle the hottest non extract hot sauces out there without issue. Even some of the extract sauces are used regularly like Pain 100% and Mad Dog 357. But fresh peppers are something else entirely.

It's cheap and right outside the edge of town, so I can do whatever I want, but don't have to drive an hour to work. Even buildling stuff, or working on the house, there's nobody enforcing permits n stuff. I can park the camper on the side of the house, tractors in the yard. I couldn't handle living in a subdivision or in town with all the rules n stuff.

Taxes have nearly tripled since I moved in though, so the cheap part is starting to fade. Was $800/year, now I'm up to $2100/year. Still less than when I lived in Illinois, on a quarter acre lot, taxes were $8k/year on a $100k house. I'm on 4 acres in a $90k house paying $2k/yr.

I really like being able to shoot **** off my back porch though. Don't think I'd ever move somewhere I can't do that.

If/when I move, I'll be looking for 20+ acres. Preferably with a 1 mile or longer driveway and no visible neighbors.

stay where you are and shoot all the neighbors.
will work if you can live without that 1 mile driveway.

I don't even want to see cars going down the street though.

My dream home is on a dead end private road, on a tall hill in the middle of 100 acres of woods with a walk out basement facing a steep drop off so all you see is tree tops.

But with excellent cell signal and high speed internet access.

Also no more than 30 minutes to work.

One of my neighbors is moving.

He's not sure if he's gonna sell the house or not. Said he might keep it just to store stuff for a while.

He inherited a 10 acre property and house when his dad passed and has been working on it since. I told him I want a heads up if/when he sells, I'm tempted to buy his house/lot, double my property and maybe rent the house.

I think I can get this closed down tonight.

Plenty of beers in the garage, and nothing else to do tonight. Too cold and wet to do anything outside, wife's going to bed early so I can't make noise inside, and boy got an old slot car set from gramma this weekend that doesn't work, so I'll take that out to the garage to do some soldering and stuff, see if I can't make it work.

She said she wanted to watch but was too tired, just got home from a trip to Michigan.

Just checked the cameras, she's not in the living room, and the lights are off. So probably not watching.

Went to two stores looking for bullet connectors to fix the boy's slot car racing thing. Couldn't find anything small enough.

Just got done cutting the plastic off the original connectors and tried to solder the controller wires back on but only succeeded in melting the original solder and wrecking the contacts.

I miss radio shack. Would be been a quick trip for the bits I needed. Now gotta wait for delivery on the ordered parts.

Got it working with about a dozen alligator clips and wire bits.

Proof of concept completed. Now just gotta make it kid proof, or at least kid resistant. Gonna wire up a DC power source while I'm at it, as it was battery operated and I have more spare DC converters than I have batteries. That I cn do without parts.

RASS my cigar tonight. I'm not sure on this one. It's good, but mot much there, especially for the size. 50rg ish, but I prefer coronas. Pretty flat, but good. I'd like to have this in a corona.

Assembled a cheap BBQ today and built two more planters for the woman.

Tested the 1 week bottle from the batch of beer... Not as terrible as I expected. Hopefully at 2/3 weeks it'll be ok. Drinkable.... But not going to win any awards
