We should loan France our flying water tankers to help them put it out.

My buddy said "we were looking for Cuban cigars, walked out of the shop, and there was a ton of some coming from the cathedral a block away"... Sounds to me like it was started by a careless cigar smoker with a now-guilty conscience...

They said it started shortly after it was closed, and an air tanker would have destroyed it. Maybe a bucket drop from a helo would have done some good but that’s not something they use.

Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!

So you want to destroy it further?

Or is this some reference to the 747 supertanker that the federal government doesn’t want to use here?

I heard we should act quickly.

Because firefighters usually act slowly unless otherwise instructed to act quickly.

And I heard that we should use air tankers.

Have you ever watched European construction workers? Just as lackidaisical about working on historic treasures as anything else. It doesn't surprise me. It happens here all the time with new wood construction but is easy to torch 2x4s. it would take a lot of kindling to get those old beams lit.

ONLY THE "F.R.E.N.C.H."....

COULD
start a fire...

IN a building made almost entirely of:

STONE
METAL
AND
GLASS....

W.T.F.?

THE ONLY THINGS FLAMMABLE
WERE:

*CHURCH PEWS
*KNEELING PLANKS
*AND MILLION DOLLAR PAINTINGS/ ARTWORK HANGING
EVERYWHERE...
???MAYBE??? A FEW SUPPORT BEAMS (as somebody else mentioned??? but they were precautionary braces...
NOT LOAD BEARING SUPPORTS...

THE FRIGGIN THING WAS BUILT BY THE ORIGINAL
M.A.S.O.N.S. FOR GOD'S SAKES...

MASONS USE STONE , MARBLE, BRICK....

NOT
W.O.O.D.

W.T.F.?

That was my first thought. But apparently there are a lot of huge, very old, wooden support beams.

If only the flying water tankers had gotten there sooner.

OK, Victor, we get it. Trump said a stupid thing. Boy, did you show us. Because he suggested using air tankers, I will now vote for the Neo-Marxist totalitarian running on the Democrat ticket in 2020. Enslavement to government is so much more desirable then voting for a man who suggested using air tankers. You won, dude, you won.

Maybe they should take the billions needed to restore this extravagance and give it to charity or victims of pedophilia.

We should also learn from this and have airborne tankers available.

I mean... I think the real key is to move quickly...
If only someone in a fire department had thought of that before they had to consult Twitter.

Consulting twitter is so last year.

Everyone knows that we now use news agglomerates.

Easier to hide the tawdry nature of our google searches.

All of this ignores the fact that if the French had only consulted dear leader earlier they could have saved the hunch backs home. Who knows maybe mexico would have bought the flying firetrucks. The dude is just absurd.

There is a fire retardant liquid that they spray on thatched chiki huts in Florida so they don't catch on fire. Could have been an option for dry and rotted smaller wood members and "gingerbread".

In an old building you only need to keep the small pieces of wood and fabric from catching on fire. The old beams are very hard to get started to burn without a lot of kindling. Old warehouses were built with heavy timbers so that when they caught fire, the surface layer of wood would burn until an insulating layer of char is formed. Didn't always work but there are many structurally sound warehouses with charred beams. Of course there is the possibility of flammable liquids or explosions which could light almost any type of wood.

My prediction: the cause will be identified and determined that it could have been avoided by keeping the construction site free of flammable materials/debris near vulnerable parts of the building and by isolating torches, welding equipment and other sources of heat. It has been said the site was inspected twice daily for fire hazards........what is still to be determined is did anyone notice the pending problem and elect to do anything other than make the rounds and punch the time clock. Anything that is inspected so often is also likely to have inspectors that think they know the site and stop looking closely or questioning things.
