Ave Maria Morning Star Perfectos

Has anybody ever had any of these? Any good? They have several different blends and this is a size/style of cigar I like to keep around. Thinking of getting the sampler pack that they have floating around.

The larger AM's that I have had have been pretty good when good but also very inconsistent.

Thanks

Never had the regular Ave Maria in the Morningstar vitola, but I have a bunch of the Ave Maria Argentum variant in that vitola.

They were crap ROTT. They were crap a year later. They were getting better at 2 years. At 3 they're actually pretty good.

But, I got them on a super-ultra-cheapass CI deal. Like $1.25 a stick super-ultra-cheap, if I remember right. They remind me of another AJ stick I got on a super-ultra-cheapass deal, the Diesel coronas that were on the brief (48-ish hours) "10-pack plus $20 CI bucks card" deal CI does twice a year (May and December). Net price (after deducting the value of the gift card) was 75 cents each ($27.50 for 10 with $20 bucks card). They were absolutely horrible ROTT, ammonia bombs, couldn't smoke more than a half-inch before throwing them away. A year later, same. Two years later, same. Three years later, actually quite good.

Moral of the story is that if you see an AJ cigar selling very suspiciously super-cheap on CI, I mean much cheaper than even the normal deal prices, they may be really "green" and it may be a case of "just add several years!" before they're usable.

I’ve been trying to win the Sampler pack of 5 or 10 for quite a while.
But for some reason, people keep paying more for these than I will...

I thought kotc line was losing a bid is a sign of weakness

I've gotten the sampler before. Liked the Reconquista. Rest were so so. Seeing what a nap does

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, that's a DMV original.........I just steal material as I see fit......cause you know......Royal privilege and all.

I would hope the Recon was decent......that is Ave Maria's top of the line smoke.......think it won Cigar of the Year once from the experts at CA.
I bought a fiver many years ago............nice enough cigar............but not even close to being in the top 20, let alone Cigar of the year imo.
