Yup...

Got word on the truck.

Says it can be rebuilt. Offered rebuild for $2800-3200 or replace for $4800. Year warranty on rebuild, 3yr on replace.

Went for the rebuild. Said it'll be done around the 17th.

Ouch.

Good news is it's not raining (much) right now and water levels are down. At least there's no standing water next to the house anymore.

Picked up the siding panels and put em back in the pile behind the shed.

Went back and forth on whether or not to dig all day and skip work or skip digging and go to work. Drain worked last night with the shallow trench, so I'm hoping it'll hold up until I can bring in a mini excavator or a trencher. Digging 2ft deep x 50 foot long by hand in waterlogged clay just isn't something I really wanna do.

True. But if I got the choice between shoveling or pulling some joysticks, I'm going the lazy route.

Last deep trench I hand dug took 6 hours for a 70 foot run 18" deep running electric out to the chicken coop. And that was before I got fat n lazy.

My street's barricaded closed. Had water rushing over it at the lowest point down the hill, wonder if it washed out.

But I gotta go to bed. Back to work to pay for my trans operation. Gotta cash in some PTO too.

A cubit is an ancient measure of length, approximately equal to the length of a forearm. It was typically about 18 inches or 44 cm, though there was a long cubit of about 21 inches or 52 cm.

The long cubit was for the tall guys. Their forearms are longer. Ask Frankie T about the long cubit. I'm only 5' 10".

I remember when trucks were a cheaper option for people who needed them for work related stuff. Nowadays you could buy a small house for comparative cost

I did alright. I got a 2018 Ram 1500 Crew Cab with the 3.0L Turbocharged EcoDiesel for $40,615. Laramie edition, so I got leather heated/cooled seats, heated steering, Alpine stereo system, SiriusXM all access for a year (which expires in 2 weeks)... it's pretty damn sweet. Window sticker was over 51k.

But yeah... trucks are pretty damn pricey for the most part. Especially if you want to tow anything heavy and need a full size diesel.

That's just it though. I once got a brand new Tundra for under $20k. Granted that was almost 20yrs ago, not nearly the same bells and whistles, and had a stick shift. Speaking of that, what the hel happened to manual transmission? I liked being in control of the vehicle. I don't need it to park for me, brake for me, keep me in a lane, wipe my azz for me.... Chit, stuck in a rant and lost my point. I'm going back to my cave now to make fire

siriusxm expired on Caren's new vehicle. I ignored a dozen emails trying to entice us to re-up but she didn't care.
last week got an offer for 6 months at $5...not $5 a month, just $5!
if you like it, just hold off a while.

I bought a used CRV 4 years ago, had seriusxm. still does. no idea why it never stopped.

How rusted out is this beast? 3,000 for a year warranty, or $4,800 for three years?

Assuming you'll have it three more years, doesn't the latter make sense?

With the amount of OT you put in, you'd make up the difference before Summer starts.

Best offer so far has been 6 months for $30 or 12 all access for $99.

In my experience, they play a lot of the same songs across multiple channels. I can get that listening to the music on my phone with zero chatter.

yeah, I almost never use it and mine seems to be free forever.
But for $5 for 6 months Caren will probably get it...but we must have had a dozen email offers over two months.

Frank's right....hold off on them, and the deals keep getting better...I loved the music, but I live in the mountains, and it seems just like when I'm starting to groove, I lose the signal.Happens a lot, and really pizzed me off...Brick wall

Rust isn't terrible today, but every winter is noticeably worse. Got a few bubbles coming through on doors and rockers, rear fender.

Needs balljoints and tie rods up front, bushings and shocks all around, and tires too.

I figure I'll ignore all that and try to find a replacement within a year. No way a bench rebuilt transmission will hold up to my use for too much longer than that. I went back and forth in my head trying to decide and I still don't know what the best course is. 2k difference on a truck worth 8 at best is a lot. If it were worth more and in better cosmetic shape the argument for replacement would be stronger.

My dad's been talking about getting a 1 ton pickup. If he does, he said I can borrow it for heavy hauls. A half ton will be fine for my needs except the Gridlife trips where I'm pulling 8-10k for 1000 miles.

Might as well try to sell it before it's junk.

Or maybe I'll drive it till it's junk. Who knows.

I had XM when it was new. Loved it.

Now I've got spotify. Pick what I wanna hear when I wanna hear it.

Used XM in dad's truck when I borrow it and find myself hunting for something I wanna hear.

Won an award at work for some reason.

They bought me a bucket of assorted hot sauces.

Sposeda go to a lunch thing in the boardroom with the suits next week for it. But wife is gonna be at the boy's school and we only got one car right now.

I'd probably find another excuse if I didn't have that one.

Why skip face-time with the "suits"? If they like you, they will promote you and/or pay you more. Rent a car for the day...

Went a month without killing someone with your super long butthole probing finger?

They bought me a bucket of assorted hot sauces.
They should have gotten you a shaggy rag and some finger sanitizer
