Hey guys,

I am going to be putting together two shipments out for some of the troops. One of my buddies is currently deployed for the Army in the Middle East and my cousin is deployed in Japan for the Navy. Both have recently asked me if I could get some cigars shipped out to them for them and their platoons. Anyone who has anything to contribute, it would be greatly appreciated! Will be sure to post pictures before they get sent out and ask for them to shoot me pictures when they get them.

Thanks!

Will do! I put a shipment together for both of the troops and their platoons about this time last year and they're requesting a restock.

You rock. I love people who pull stuff together for the troops. I do this too, every month, for OPFTH, Cigars for Warriors, and Value for Veterans.

I would be interested in helping out in the future once I get more donations in.

Sounds good!

I haven't ever done a donation through an organization, just shipments directly to people I know.

You need to build a reputation here before people might donate. At this point no one knows you and you could be pulling a con to get cigars for you for free. Also, people tend to donate to OPFTH, so I don't know how much interest you will generate. Do some trades through the noob pib. That will build your reputation.

Totally respect your opinion and I look forward into getting into some trades. Been a buyer for sometime now. Well respected on another forum and can provide validation if thats what is needed.

No need to be a downer on a positive thread though, some have already shown interest. Just trying to help out those who serve. I can also post the address for those who would want to send to these troops directly🙂

Spey didn't mean any harm. Cool dude with a great taste in wine, too.

As for donations, yeah it depends on the person. Some will donate right away and some will wait because they are skeptical.

I do the same collections monthly for some of the organizations I posted above but wont start asking for donations on here until later on. I send to Cigars for Warriors faithfully every month and I have just partnered with Beth on here from OFTH to promote their organization within my own.

Plus, I don't think anyone would want to steal the cigars that people send to the troops. I usually don't send the best stuff when I donate because a lot of times you don't know if they will like them or will waste them, but there are some times when I'm in a giving mood to send some real nice stuff. I try not to send absolute dog rockets though.

I am also on that 'other forum' that you are on and I have seen you around there. I vouch for you on this forum. I think you are a legit guy and wouldn't scam our troops out of their treats.

I wasn't trying to insult you. I was just giving you an honest overview of the landscape here. Someone should post a link or 2 about what we did when Stinger went to the sandbox. I am not good at finding that stuff.

@IronResin and @Cigarlady

My best friend Dave is in the middle East, still waiting for him to write me back with his specific platoon info but his mailing is as below:

David Johnson
HHC, 426BSB, 1 BCT
APO, AE, 09378

My cousin Mike is stationed in Japan with the Navy and waiting on his mom to email me his mailing info as it has changed from the last time I shipped out to him (he was on a boat and now he's on land).

Cigarlady, appreciate the vouch. I'd find it hard to believe if there wasn't anyone else from her that also visits them as well.

@Speyside

My apologies, just felt a little harsh. No harm done and I understand where you're coming from.

What kind of "jerky" do they like... We talking about homemade or store bought?

They didn't specifically ask for coffee but I'm sure it would be appreciated!

Don't even take it as "harsh". He is a very straight forward Member.
That was simply the best advice anyone here could give you.

@rfenst

We've moved past that at this point. I already apologized for taking it as harsh.

@Palama and @Speyside

That looks incredible. Mad props and much respect for the size of those donations and the level of work it must have took to organize that! Definitely do not expect this one to get near that size but holy cow that is awesome.

Didn't you JUST warn me about sending an address through the interwebs?

Or was it sarcastic? My offer was genuine.
