Tenth year in a row for me and my buddies. Herfing

Seemed to have become 'tame' over the last couple of years since the excitement of freebies extravaganza from Ghurka evaporated as an event. More of a 'here's my ticket, give me my cigar' kind of an event now. We get there at 230pm and by 530pm we are pretty much done - even after sampling some never-before-heard-of craft beers.

Still... cigars are cigars ! See u there.

I haven't gone since 2012. The best part was herfing with a bunch of board members in the parking lot. We would get there around 6-7 AM, smoke, drink and eat till they let us in, and then party into the night. Average cigar consumption was 8 to 10.

Back in the good old days . . . when you could grill up some hot sausages on the mini Coleman in the parking lot and NOT be hassled.

They're hassling people about grilling in the parking lot now? LAME!

So let me summarize the changes in recent years:

* Grilling = hassled (at least according to jespear above)
* Ticket prices jacked up yearly at far beyond inflation rate
* I seem to notice more "meh" filler cigars
* Lame ashtrays recently compared to older years' ashtrays

Yeah, I think I'm done. I'm not gonna pay whatever the cheapest ticket (2:30 PM entry) will be next year (probably will be jacked up to $275 or something) for an experience that's been lessened in so many ways.

I'm glad I was there for all the GOOD years though! They had great value, were great fun and were cheap!

P.S. -- One year the ashtray was simply the little "CI Puck" that anyone could buy anytime for $9.99. No event artwork, doesn't say "CigarFest" anywhere on it, just the standard ten-buck Puck. Really guys? LAME!

I know they sell out all 3000 tickets instantly, but it seemed like a lighter crowd today, very manageable. Ash tray was different and cool, the cigar holder was a great touch as was the bottle opener. I know the price keeps climbing, but for what you get you certainly get your monies worth.

There seems to always be extra tickets for sale. If not, the real fun is in the parking lot anyways
