I am just getting into the cigar lifestyle. Recently quit smoking cigarettes about 3 months ago in Feb of 2019. One of my buds quit before me and turned me onto this hobby and lifestyle also have a few co-workers that are into cigars that I've traded with and picked their brain about things. So far I am liking it a lot.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME. I am married and a father of 2. Bull Mastiff breed lover and owner of my BF Olin, Work at a Chemical Plant outside of Chicago,IL. We make some nasty stuff! Mainly soaps, pesticides, ballistic foams for the government and Lock Heed Martin, and personal care products. The average American touches or use something we make 9-10x a day with out knowing it. I work a swing shift so sometimes getting online can be un-timely. I like to garden and build sh*t (nothing in particular, just whatever catches my eye) and ride my HD. When I started out I was into Acid's and mostly flavored stogies like Tatiana's (man those suck now too)...but that has changed some and not to knock others, they just aren't for me anymore. But I do enjoy a CI Knockoff Coffee in the morning....My pallet is SLOWLY coming, but I realize that I am starting to like just tobacco. So far I am into some cheapies. I am liking Rocky Patel (cri-ojo, san andres lines, cargo) Also Alec Bradley's Black Markets, Drew Estates Kentucky Fire Cured. Had a few Gurka Sherpa Oranges...no offense it's like smoking hay!!! May designate those as yardgars for what I have left. Not into the Churchill sizes. I am mostly a robusto, gordo, toro man. I have a lot I would like to try but that comes with time and money....if I can get away with it from the wife! I like a medium cigar...tried a few full flavored stix and I was either drooling as I puffed away, or felt like spitting the whole time..lol...(still a noob, hopefully I'll get there) My user name is NOT meant to offend anyone. Hell I'm part black...why you ask??...I am 1/2 Sicilian!! The short story is I was working construction as a Union Laborer and the crew I was on was mostly African-American. As anyone knows men can be ruthless on construction sites. Some how the name came up, and it stuck and I am OK with it...feel free to let the jokes begin. I can take it.... Hope to learn a lot from here and soak up some infinite wisdom from everyone..

Thanks,

Eric (A.K.A. WhiteyCracker)

Welcome. Did GNF send you?

One of the biggest personalities of this place, Wheel (who has sadly passed), gave me some advice soon after I got here. It took me a few years to learn how right he was. He said something to the effect of, "Smoke better cigars. If that means smoking fewer, than smoke less. But stop smoking crap."

Yup!

Been one since I was 12 (...lotta moons ago...). For the first time ever, the weekend games of the ‘67 World Series were broadcast live AND in color into Hawaii so my Dad bought a color TV. Haven’t looked back since.

Well then we are MORTAL enemies!! JK ;-)

They do have a decent team this year. And atleast you seem like your legit and not a bandwagon Cards fan...like others I know, Cubbies have their fair weather fans also.
Like you I remember watching my first game. it was the mid 80's. My mothe rbrought me to Wrigley and I was in awe....especially when I seen Lee Smith come to the mound...me being a little guy at the time, he was MASSIVE like a giant. Still is I imagine. But I will never forget that.

Welcome.
As far as dstieger’s advice to smoke better, but fewer cigars?
Absolute nonsense!

You go on ahead and keep sucking down the Gurkhas, ABs, and Rockys, and such.
The only way to properly develop your palate is to smoke chit for a year, or two........and maybe three if you’re a slow learner,
Then, and only then, will your palate be primed and ready for some mid range and better cigars.
If you dive right in and start smoking high end Padrons, Fuentes, LFDs and good coobans, you won’t have the all important reference point.

Furthermore, you need to pay your dues, like we all did, and help keep the lights on at cbid.
Remember, never lose a bid, especially on Gurkhas...

Welcome fellow Midwesterner. Your team selection is spot on, but your breakfast preference is woefully incorrect.

Tiebreaker: Ginger or Maryann?

Thanks for the advice...I'm soaking all this in from all of you here and from the guys at work. Reading past threads has helped too. When you say to NEVER LOSE A BID..Does this mean to not bid on garbage.or to snipe.lol? How's everyone's view on sniping..Taking an auction in the last seconds. I would not over pay from what I could get at the mothership or from other sites. And def do not want to run prices up that affect us all in the long run....

to each his/her own...that is a TRICK question...because you'd marry Maryann, but want a "night" with Ginger...Drool

Sonia Dada broke up over 10 years ago, but you can check them out on YouTube.
They are REALLY good. ( Just ask RMAN4443 ! )
A few of the members formed JAMBON after the break up.

The black part is below my waist.
Yes I like camping...so much that I have something I sleep in that pops up...

I've been thinking... and that's dangerous... but what if ol' whiteycracker here had the opposite screen name of blackyn***er?

Personally, I find the humor in his name and appreciate that it was given by black coworkers (in a friendly manner, I'm sure). But I have to assume if it was the other way around, people's heads would assplode.

Just an observation. I am in no way offended, as all of you who know me probably guessed.

I don't think anyone should be offended. It's a username. I find it humorous. I was merely pointing out that if it was the opposite, the place would be in an uproar.

When I was on the USS McKee, working in the boiler room, the three guys I worked with and hung out with the most were black. We were standing around a compressor we were working on and I asked, "Ya'll ever see that Sesame Street sketch... "one of these things is not like the other"? To which one of my friends replied, "Yeah... one of these motherf***ers ain't a brother"! We all laughed... because it was funny.

In America, the word n*gger carries a great deal of negative connotation, and historically, a lot of hate... Much more than any slur against white folk, and especially more than the word cracker...

I wouldn't expect a black guy to laugh off the n-word, but if a white guy doesn't laugh when someone calls him a cracker, I can't be friends with him...

I'm disturbed by the rampant utilization of the Polack joke. It is inappropriate to judge the intelligence of a person by their ethnicity and makes my Polish percentage cry.

However, my Irish and German parts think that chit is funny as hel and are drinking beer and whiskey while laughing their azzes off

A guy sitting at a bar begins loudly telling a joke to his friend next to him... He begins "a big, dumb polish guy and a big dumb Irish guy and a big dumb German guy walk into a bar and -"

Just then he's interrupted by a towering red headed beast of a gentleman who grabs him by the shoulder and spins him around.

"A'scuse me there lad" he says in a thick Irish brogue, "couldn't help but over hear yer little joke thar, and thought I should tell ya's that, well, I'm an Irishman, I weigh bout 23 stones. Me friend over here, he's a German man, weighs in about 24 stones. And me other friend right there, biggest of us all at 25 stones, he's what you'd call a Pollack. Ya sure ya want to be tellin that joke lad?"

To which the man replied "hell no, I don't wanna have to explain it 3 times!"
