I like the Taurus Judge 410 pistol. Better than a derringer since it carrys 3 more shells, and probably easier to hold.

Why not just run them over with your lawnmower?

Would recommend any if the 410 revolvers if you're looking for a handgun. I've tried the shot shells made for 357 and 44, but I don't think they'd be very effective. They wouldn't take squirrels at 20 feet. The 410 revolvers have a wide spread too, but benefit from a much larger shot load.

Not a fan of the derringers, they hurt to shoot and have crap triggers.

Used to have a Taurus Judge, didn't care for it. Too much a compromise to fire the shot shells. Didn't shoot very well with 45lc, and the spread from shot was too wide. Would take a squirrel at 20 foot though.

I've got one. Love it. 45 cal and 410 shells as well. Blows gophers across the lawn out in the country. Heavy.

It is a wide shot range. From 8 feet away, the pattern wide as an opened newspaper. For snakes, it would be good.

Yup. Very special purpose handgun. Worth a try if you live in snake country. Not much good otherwise.

There are crazier weapons being carried in vehicles up here. A Judge only scratches the surface.

One Up North guy has homemade, compressed air gun that shoots golf balls. His kid is truly a rocket scientist. From there is goes down to machetes, old baseball bats with spikes pounded through them, and another dude with a fingerless batting glove with a cut out of a metal barn cleaner chain link, sewed across the knuckles.

Good ol' boys.
