back on subject.

Why is it we have to google to learn which states allow late term abortions?

But we hear it from the media immediately when states try to limit or ban abortions?

Some might say it's an agenda.

And they'd be correct.

or it could have to do with something new happening today as opposed to something already in place. It would be sort of weird to report every day on the status quo but more common to report on something changing.

this boogie man agenda thing is over played

When certain states reduced or eliminated the restrictions on abortion it wasn't front page news.
Nothing like the Alabama news.
Not even close.

It gets the highest ratings because it's the only cable news that doesn't lean left.
If MSNBC were the only one not leaning right, it would kick azz.
Well, except for that Maddow dude.

unlikely as it may seem, Joe (tail) and I are actually good friends, been together a few times, dinner with the wives...
they showed up for us at the worst time of our lives. It's the type of character I hope to find in other people. I want to like everyone.

hope to get together later in July when I will be just a few miles from his home.

Neither of us really decides the worth of another based on political opinions...and we do get a kick out of getting one over on the other guy.

Not saying you are incorrect, generally debates on certain subjects can be monumental wastes of time, and even destroy relationships, but I don't think I'd ever push that far on a discount cigar forum.

That makes this place the exception then, not the rule. At least as far as this political cycle goes in my experience..... I've sat back and watched friends and family go Nuclear this time around. I thought it was bad under Bush and worse under Obama but now, people seem to want to drink each others blood. I think it's going to get a lot worse.

I don’t know, I think it may be more common than you think, but the Cyrene in both sides seem to control most public political discourse. As a leftie living in Alabama, the vast majority of my friends and I disagree politically, but we still discuss stuff civilly and without hard feelings. To be fair, my circle of friends tends to be hyper educated and work in positions where critical thinking is a requisite skill. On this forum, I’ve spoken with and consider friends several people who have very different views and think highly of them. Even Jamie Herfing

I won’t go as far as Frank. There are certainly people on here and in my personal life that I have written off as intellectually unworthy because they demonstrate that the “team” they root for takes precedence over critical thought or that they are incapable of reason. Which is why I frequently read the politics forum but rarely comment.

I concur about politics not defining many people here...I've met several CBidders who are cons and who disagree often with my lib viewpoints in the politics board, but we are good friends and I've enjoyed their company...several have had opportunities to permanently shut me up, but have chosen not to throw me over-board while we fished in deep waters...we discovered we have much more important things in common than we have political differences...it's never personal for me...

early on, tail and I would go after each other, tooth and nail, but we both acknowledged that it would be good to meet and have a cigar...pretty sure he still feels that way...we tried to make it work this past Super Bowl Sunday when he was in SoCal, but he was stuck too far away with too little time...there's always next year...

gonna try to get to Las Vegas this October for a CBid herf...Whistle and Palama will be going...anyone else?

Discussing something, on a discussion board, is not akin to outrage.
Unless you want it to be.

Odd that you would post the above within the same thread where you claim you can't converse with people who go on the offensive.

I understand. The liberal bias is undeniable.
Criminals are victims and the police are the enemy.
All conservative white men are racists.
All who value national security are racists.

And the agenda continues.
Riling up the ignorant.

Half of society are idiots.
People make their choices based on identity politics.
There’s no accountability in government.
The enemy is allowed to immigrate and infiltrate our society.

I rarely discuss politics.
Dwelling on it will drive you insane.
But I think about it, so might as well share

Regarding abortion.

You have your way of thinking. They have theirs.
Your beliefs do not take precedence over theirs.
Nor do theirs over yours.
You can’t make a decision like that for somebody else.

Hardliners line of thought -
Abortion is murder.
In any and all cases.
Regardless of the circumstances.

But have no qualms with traveling overseas to kill the enemy. (nor do I)

Abortionists are immoral. And to get one would be immoral.
And the immoral are in a way the enemy.
You have to somehow perform the mental gymnastics to come
to the conclusion that the enemy is killing their own offspring.
And no action was taken on your part, nor does it have to be on your conscience.
And then let it go...

Tail I never said I couldn’t converse with folks that go on the offensive. That’s an odd conclusion but perhaps an intentional one. One in which you can focus on that rather than what was actually said. I’m sure you wouldn’t do that though. I need to consider that perhaps I give you too much credit and you really do misunderstand more than I think you do. I just consider you smart and playing a game at times.

There are things that make it hard to take folks position seriously or if not to that level weaken their argument. I’ll still converse or look for a legitimate point to learn from. It’s just much more difficult and takes motivation. I want to learn from folks I initially disagree with. Thus fencepost.

The outrage meter is a traditional thing in here. And your outrage is duly noted. Your apology is accepted. And stuff.

I know the outrage thingy is common here.
Based on earlier discussion, its inclusion within this thread was the only odd part.
and you didn't say "on the offensive" but you rattled off a dozen items so it's only human to categorize.

People are getting way too particular.

No, your generalities often don’t reflect what was really said or thought.

I honestly am beginning to think it’s not intentional and you really don’t see it. That will definitely change how I think about it.

Cool.

Don't get me wrong... I think this is the nicest, most generous group of people I've ever run into(Even Tiger was nice at first:-). But, when it comes to politics, I've seen so many people get into screaming matches irl and online that I just can't believe that after spitting so much vitriol at each other that they can just go grab a beer later. That probably says more about me than them but, to me at least it feels different these days..... There is an underlying feeling of violence (BLM, Antifa, Proud Boys, etc) in the political back and forth. Today's generations are the least tolerant I've seen in my lifetime. Maybe I'm watching too many video's of protests and debates, who know's. When it comes to people in general I'm not the most optimistic person. But, I am admittedly shocked and pleasantly surprised you guys can separate the politics from the rest. I know for me it's not that easy. Gives me something to think about.
