I'm curious to see if someone matches my experience with what I just smoked or if it's just a one time thing. Rothschild size if that matters.

You missed the 10 free with box of 10 purchase. Now only boxes of 20 with same deal. Not CC of course. Maduro is halfway decent medium fare.

Cubans on the other hand are quite different....kinda remind me of fresh bread.

I always liked the CC Le Hoyo du Prince for a good short inexpensive medium to full flavored cigar. Of course they are discontinued. Crying

I found many of the current CC Hoyos to be on the light side and not in my wheel house. Haven't had Non-CC Hoyo in 25 years; but I recall that they were pretty nondescript. YMMV

My very good friend with asthma and champagne taste who passed right about the time the FBI-SSG "WENT FULL BORE OBVIOUS GANGSTALKING MODE" on my sorry ass in
April? of 2013...A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E.L.Y....LOVED THE EXCALIBUR VITOLA...

THEY USED TO BE VERY GOOD..

I Haven't had one since his funeral wake, when two ex-classmates (M. C. AND R. R.) from my HIGH SCHOOL class WORE WIRES FOR THE FBI, to my friends wake at the ELKS CLUB in Lancaster , PA....one of those two COLLUDING & CONSPIRING TO FELONY GANGSTALKING NARC RAT PRICKS IS D.E.A.D. AND THE OTHER HAD A WELL DESERVED STROKE, GAINED 75++ POUNDS & HIS SECOND WIFE JUST LEFT HIM...oh welllllll

K.A.R.M.A. IS A BEOTCH....AIN'T???

I GUESS THAT $10K each from the FBI "RAT PAYOFF" to wear a wire HAS ITS OWN DUE DATE AND BAGGAGE THAT COMES DIRECTLY WITH IT?

Super Premium Seconds.. Really love the Punch champion perfecto seconds and I thought I would be getting that cigar in a rothschild size but it's HdM and completely different taste. Smoked one last night, kind of tasted like cologne the whole time and kerosene a few times. It definitely was a "second" with a couple spots on the wrapper so I assume it tastes just like the regular HdM.

And because I thought it was going to be the same as the Punch maduro deliciousness I bid on 100 of them and won.
"Superb Honduran gem" kind of makes it seem like it's one cigar in two different sizes not completely different.

CBid's description:
From Villazon - home of Punch & Hoyo de Monterrey - comes this superb Honduran gem. How can a second be "super-premium"? Okay, the name's not the greatest I will admit. But consider: it would be difficult for the Villazon factory to make a bad cigar. In fact, between the likes of Punch, Hoyo de Monterrey and Excalibur, this factory is home to some of the finest brands, produced by among the most accomplished blenders and torcedors in Central America.

Super-Premium 2nds are a real sparkplug of a smoke that offers complex flavors and a sassy, enchanting flavor - Most think it tastes just like the more expensive Punch or Hoyo de Monterrey brand. A delicious, full-bodied cigar handmade in Honduras with choice long-fillers and Ecuador-Sumatra wrappers.

Super Premium Seconds was your clue...
Had a few different non cooban HdMs.......decent one trick ponies with generally good construction.
Don’t know about the seconds though...

That's good to hear
I've smoked about 10 of the super premium seconds in the Champion size and they're awesome enough I wanted to stock up. Most of the reviews are people saying they are the same cigars without the bands and box for much less and that's what my impression was as well.. A small defect in the wrapper does not bother me. Maybe they will grow on me or I pulled out the wrong one to try first..

It would have been nice if they specified in the listing that they are two very different blends.

The Rothschild 'Super Premium 2nds' are some of the worst '2nds' I have ever had...

Almost a weak pipe tobacco 'Lakeland' essence to them...Mixed with old socks...

Dunno about the perfecto '2nds' as I refuse to give them any more business...

I know if I tried these first I would have never bought the Perfecto either but it's honestly so, so much better... A completely different animal

Now last night I was doing some work with my humidor and came across these "Punch Signature" Rothschild. Start to see some similarities, the seconds look like the ugly somewhat deformed brother of the Signature. Color is very close, ring size is the same, roll seems to be the same. Smell is hard for me to compare on them. Now I am not sure if the 2nds are Hoyo or other Punch... The Punch Sig is not as sweet as the Champion perfecto; I smoked one last week. It was nice

I wonder if they are designated seconds right after being rolled and never aged properly? I've never aged a cigar. If I thought these were aged 3 years already like some cigars I would say it's crazy to think another couple months would help.. Are they going to really care if they know it's a $1 cigar from day one?

Or maybe these seconds are the practice cigars for their new rollers, use lower quality leaf, little or no aging, people step on them, call them names, etc.

I have so many cigars here now and I keep smoking the spark plugs.. I haven't been let down yet. It's usually the first cigar of the day

Have you had others beside the spark plug and the rothschild? They show four different ones in the picture on CI but there's only two ever listed. Always wondered about that

The Punch Signature was a very good smoke when it just came out, one the best General offerings in a long time. A second of the OR would be pretty good I expect.

Alas, the last time I got them, they had gone downhill. Not near the flavor and a bit "ashy" tasting.

The old premiums, Punch, Partagas, Hoyo and whatever else are just decent smokes, but nothing special. The best of that bunch for me was an aged and plumed El Rey Del Mundo decadent dozen. The other ten of that box smoked were OK and the other one is stilll aging without any plume.

Decent smokes for decent folks, that's what my motto is from now on.

I love Punch London Club maduro. It's the first cigar I bought that I remember thinking "Oh ok, that's what a good cigar is", because I had some cheaper ones to compare it to that didn't draw well or burn right...
and it's like $3.14 at the b&m. I'll probably buy a box of them on this site soon.

I smoked another one today and it was definitely from the Signatures.. no doubt about it, much different from the first one. I have to smoke a couple more to declare that the first was a fluke or they're just really inconsistent.

.....the regular line is just a decent average smoke. I would pay more than around $2.50 for them. You can get comparable smokes here like Sons of Anarchy, CAO Nicaragua, Gilberto Oliva Reserva, La Herencia Cubana, Punch, R.P. Vin '92, RyJ 1875, and Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte any day of the week for under $3 per.
