I watched an old show I had recorded yesterday and one of the things they said was that the best weight loss is a maximum of 2 lbs. a week. This rate of loss can be sustained, while the big loss dieting likely will all come back in time.

Still the same 191 as last week 4 miles yesterday and today . I ran 8.5 miles last week total. Going to South Carolina Friday and staying 5 days there will be weight gain I am afraid.

Didn't weigh in this morning. Can't seem to hit 239. Got a trip to NH coming up at the end of the month and would like to get under 235 by then.

I put ran but I am not running its definitely jogging . 41 miles in one week thats awesome. After working all day in the heat when I get home I try to run 2 to 3 miles a day. Right now its in the 90°s thats make it a challenge.

Don't give up Al, I only drink herbal no caffine tea, flavored sparklimy water, and water. Not easy at first, but now that I'm sugar free except for the sugar found in fruit and vegetables, it's easy. Actually had a pear today, first piece of fruit in 2 months, it was delicious. As I am still in phase 1 of Atkins it was a cheat. But I'll still be under the 20g of carbs allowed a day. Another lose of 2lb and I will be 1/2 way to minimum weight loss I am willing to accept.

I don't do chips, especially during the summer. Carbs, fats, salt and preservatives.
Beef sticks. Nuts with dried fruits. Beef jerky. Greek yogurt. Occasional cheese chunks. My go to's.

Never do sugar soda. Only zero calorie soda for me.
('cept for the occasional Barq's root beer with pizza, cuz there's nuthin like it)

Not easy to break the habits, but once you do, you won't look back.
And you won't miss it. And you're gonna feel so much better...

Good luck with it!
____

Spey, you are killin' it!
And yeah, I said it before, but repeated for emphasis.
Way to go man!

Thanks IZON. My thoughts are if I am going to do this go as hard as I can. 8.7 miles today. Expect to break into the 210's this week, still a long ways to go. By October I will be a lean mean fighting machine. Then I will get into yoga to build core strength among other things. Next summer I will put together a program with a trainer so I can get ripped.

I'm still at 191...even after cutting back on the chips...only drink zero carb soft drinks...still walking 4-5 miles a day...eating a lot of fruit, though, so there're natural carbs and sugars...

Al, try lowering your fruit intake and raising your vegetable intake of above ground vegetables. Kale, any lettuce other than Iceberg, Spinach, Celery, Asparagus, Sugar Snap Peas, and Snow Peas, and Cucumbers. They are all low in carbs and dense in nutrients. If you have the will power stop the diet soda, it's worse than regular for weight gain. Try flavored seltzer water, caffine free herbal teas, and water. Though do check for potential drug interactions with the herbal teas.

Learned 2 lessons this week.

1) Don't go grocery shoppingvwhen hungry. I was able to stick to my list, but I must have picked up a dozen junk foods and put them back.

2) I tripped up for 2 days and then got back at it. So I gained 3 pounds but lost them plus 1 more, so never give up even when I have wavered, never give up. I hope I can lose 1 or 2 more by Sunday.

Hey everyone, start doing some walking. I got my 82 year old father to start with 15 minutes a day at 2 mph. He wanted to lose some weight. He dropped a
1 pound in the first week. He also made a few dietary changes. Eliminating 99% of the bread he used to eat. Eating mostly unprocessed food. He feels better already.

OK...getting back on track...back to 188, my low weight from two weeks ago...eating only lightly: fruit, cheese, yogurt for dinner...really helps to not have dinner with daughter and her family and cutting way back on the chips...

Potatos are nutrient rich, but very high glucose spikes for diabetics. Chips are processed with so many chemicals and so much salt. Love em, but they hate me. Haven't had a single one since I started the diet an exercise. 44 miles so far this week. Also lifted about 7,800 ft lb this week. My average daily calorie burn has been about 4,000. My average calorie intake has been about 1,500.

I guess I 'll jump in here... went to da Dr about some meds but he wasn't there so i saw this Lady practitioner instead... i had done some labs a cou6 weeks earlier and she tells me I'm borderline diabetic but I don't eed meds yet a d i should start eating better... sczres me a little bit so i quit eating fried foods and breads.. more fruits and stuff...
So yesterday I go back to see me Dr a d he tells .e not to worry about it cause the Practitioner woman jumped the gun... but i lost 8 lbs in two weeks by not eating cheeseburgers and fries..
Guess I'll stick with it.. the unplanned diet seems to be working... Mellow

Every time I pass by my favorite steak joint I want to pull in so bad, but so far I have resisted, same thing with my favorite pizza place. I try to take an alternate route so I don't see either of them.

I haven't had Mcdonald's fries in years. They used to be really good a long time ago - maybe around 75 pounds or so ago.

Since I started dieting and exercising I have lost 47 lb. Though when I switched to Atkins the weight loss switched into high gear. Also the more I loose, the more I exercise, and the better I feel. There is a good chance when I reach my maintenance weight I will no longer be a type 2 diabetic. My doctor has already cut my medication on half. As my blood pressure keeps dropping I may be able to decrease my blood pressure medication or even eliminate to according to my doctor. If my pulse continues to lower, same thing with that medication according to my doctor. All good. Started wearing 38 waist slacks yesterday. When I started this I was wearing 42 waist slacks and really needed to go to 44 waist.
