yeah, normally a topic for Politics but this one has some interesting Philosophy attached.

Last week I read an Opinion piece in the Boston Globe (by Stephen Kinzer) about a joint effort Think Tank being bankrolled by the unlikeliest of allies...

Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft

I found it fascinating, maybe you won't

Does a vote of confidence from Frankie Tripod make you a made man? Or a maid man?

here's a (mission?) statement from its home page...

"The Quincy Institute is an action-oriented think tank that will lay the foundation for a new foreign policy centered on diplomatic engagement and military restraint. The current moment presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring together like-minded progressives and conservatives and set U.S. foreign policy on a sensible and humane footing. Our country’s current circumstances demand it."

sounds good to me...looks like Trump CAN be a uniter...

Didn't want to immerse myself in politics over the holiday weekend...

Find it amazing that Soros and the Kochs would cooperate on anything. I fully support reducing our involvement in foreign conflicts as long as it isn't detrimental in the long run. My concern is that our adversaries will see this push for peace as an opportunity to push us further. Still can't believe the commies were allowed to take over the Crimean Peninsula...

I guess " occupy wall street" and those ultra radical
Millenials( their name escapes me?)
Don't produce the requested outcome vs monetary investment anymore....

Soros has dumped them...
Koch just supports people who make him more money.

BTW - When the Russians took over the Crimean Peninsula, the protests were not very effective.
They were held at the Crimea River

Oh, when you posed the question “Hermaphrodite?”,
I thought you were offering.

One big reason it is interesting is not because of Kochs or Soros....it's a media and perception issue.

I don't know anything about Soros except that media has convinced me he is the DNC bank. No clue about his (their?) real political detailed desires.

But I know a little about the Kochs. The media has told us for years that they are the GOP bank. Look at the first paragraph of the 'article'; it calls the Kochs 'right-wing' twice, once even 'fire-breathing right-wingers'. No question that most of the candidates they have funded are 'Republican'. But their focus has always been much, much more of a libertarian bent, than Republican-type conservatism.

Since David Koch got sick and backed away a few years ago, I've not been certain that they have an articulated mission/vision that's been communicated well.
But, anti-war, anti-interventionist is very much in line with everything they've ever stood for.

I am not sure what Soros wants, but if it is at all in line with libertarian type views relating to less government, less foreign intervention,....or less laws, more original construction Constitutional interpretation, etc..., than nobody should be surprised that the Kochs will partner with him or anyone else who shares even a sliver of the their vision

To bring together like minded progressives and conservatives.

So the liberals are left out of this one?
