While in Venice recently, my beautiful bride and I took a vaporetto over to the island of Murano. that's where the make Murano Glass. It's quite beautiful.

I've never been to Iran. But I think it's mostly sand. Which is often a precursor to glass production.

If only there were a source of heat sufficient to make Iran so beautiful as a giant glass sculpture...

Flaming bag of poop on the doorstep usually sends the message...

I propose we Americans save our poop up for a week, get a few million paper bags and some stealth bombers, and give em the ol what for...

Maybe even plant those little black cat fire crackers in a few...

The only issue is, we don't want em to flame out too early...

We need a few million long burning fuses and I don't think China's gonna help has out...

I hope somebody tells Trump that playing hardball with the Iranians will not have the same effect it did on Kim Jong-Un. Persians are some of the most fearless people on the planet. Most of them are also kind, generous people. The Iranian *people* do not want war with the US, just as (I would hope) most Americans don't want war with Iran.

No one wants a war, but what's going on with all the flagged and military ships in the straits requires some type of reaction with immediate, severe consequences.

Trump is aware of this i hope...Mellow

No casualties. Not an American ship. Maybe flaming poop is a bit extreme. I read the Royal Marines impounded an Iranian ship a couple of weeks ago...I guess this is payback?

K, so Phil's a maybe on the poop sacks but a hard no on them being lit...

Rfenst is a go on the poop sacks, indifferent to the flaming aspect...

Drafter and Frank got their accounts mixed up during their last mission...

I feel like we're getting somewhere...

Depending on who one listens to, at least "A third of the world’s liquefied natural gas and almost 20% of total global oil consumption passes through the strait, making it a highly important strategic location for international trade." The waters that ships pass through is deemed international water for transit purposes. Yet, the Iranians previously mined the waters. How much damage to the U.S. and world's economies should we wait for before doing something? Anyone want $4-5 per gallon gasoline should the Iranians attack or seize more ships? I don't think we can afford to relax our military actions in the Straight and let the world take care of it for us.

Some opinions on Iran.

Iran seems to be responding to strategies put in place by some of the same people who brought us the Iraq War.

War with Iran would cost trillions of dollars and negatively impact hundreds of millions of people. It’s very possible that hundreds of thousands of Iranian civilians would die, not to mention thousands of our own military personnel.

Perhaps all other options should be exhausted before we consider any actions that could potentially send us down this path.

Money doesn’t matter when it’s fake, and nothing spells re-election like war time incumbent facing commies.

Trump ran as a non-interventionalist

I really dislike the ruling regime in Iran, but the common citizens have seemed pro-west for several decades. They have been coming here for years contributing to childhood cancer research and other big brain stuff...but no longer is that possible. Truly a shame. These are people from a brilliant and ancient culture, not to be confused with the easy to pity (or easy to despise) rag-tag Arabs we see on the news. Islam, yes. Arab, no.

anyway, as much as I dislike Iran's rulers, we have pushed beyond anything we would stand for so we could then blame them for reacting.

The world was safer before the uncorroborated wag the dog stories "leaked" several weeks ago that supposedly gave us a reason to move in.

this is what we have been angling for. Now what? Our bluff was called, how could we not expect that? Not many countries tremble in fear when Trump says he is shutting off the money, owed or not. An ugly business model, a stupid government plan.Glad I don't have a kid to sacrifice.

Ya know what Z & tw & phil? You're right.

Maybe we can make a nuclear deal with them!

And then, later after it's all signed when we go to shake hands, we just pull our hand back and say..."Ha! Suckas!"
I'm sure they would then just respect us and be nice.

Robert, what exactly do you think we should do? Sanctions? What is left to sanction? 'Limited cruise missile strike'?.. the tomahawk strategy has been so effective un the past. Maybe just hit their nuke facilities...so Fordow is over 200' underground....we got a bomb for that? MIC may be ready for another big one. Let's see...twice Iraq's population and four times land area...oh...and their military is at least a couple decades ahead of where Iraq ever was. Let's do it! Be forewarned, though, that nobody will get hurt in the first couple months like Israel will. And it's a good thing that Iran doesn't have ability to get worldwide terror cells behind them quickly.

I wish I knew what to do, but I don't. Iran's attempts to control the Straight of Hormuz has been going on for decades. Makes me think we should go after one or more of their domestic or military ports in the Straight and seizing a few of their ships. As far as Israel goes, we have a duty to ourselves first. Israel and our other allies come second. What I do know is that this cannot be accomplished over a short period of time.

To what effect? Oil prices have been rock bottom. US Navy has been transiting the straits freely for, what? 50 years? I'm not even certain what the question is, but I'm quite certain that a hot war is not the answer.
