Chopped up 5 dead bushes in my yard and just had a nice 4 hour fire going. Heading out later for sushi, then back to my house for some friends, fire, and margaritas. And assuming a few cigars.

Exhausted. 6 hours on the road, 4 hours at the racetrack, 4 hours at the train museum, 20,000 steps on the fitbit.

Boy passed out on the drive home. Didn't even wake up carrying him inside.

I think we had a good no, great day.

Morning all, got in a 3.5 mile job this morning.plan on doing a second this early evening. Going to see once upon a time in Hollywood in the AM. Doing 9 AM breakfast with friends and family. Then going to check local yoga studios, I am going to take up yoga. Some errands this afternoon. Then kick back with a good book, no, not The Good Book. Also some good blues or jazz. May go look at puppy dogs, see 2 at a local shelter that look great. Happy Sunday fellas and gals.

And you no longer have weekends off. Some mid-morning in the near future you will wonder what day it is.

Left the kid in the truck while I stopped and got food, and then again when I stopped for gas, and a third time when I stopped for beer.

But I carried him inside when I got home.

Mowed the lawn, fed and watered chickens, and washed the truck.

Went to the county fair and looked at animals and carnies.

Didn't eat any food there, gotta go to family birthday thing in an hour.

Tomorrow wife's taking the boy to the beach with one of her and his friends. Tuesday she's taking him to waterpark with her sister and cousins.

Kid's spoiled.

Home from family birthday thing. Not that close to my 4 sisters or their husbands, so it's a bit uncomfortable. Alcohol forbidden at their house, so that don't help me any.

Was grampa's 60th, we gave him the same thing as we have every year for at least a decade. A new Kershaw Leek pocket knife. He always cracks the tips off using them as screwdrivers and wrecks the blade cutting wire and stuff. Tried giving him a leatherman a couple times but he won't carry it. Always has his pocket knife though, so it's a useful gift.

Parents gave me some camping toys. A set of wheel chocks and some leveling blocks.

Kid got some Legos, a little car playset, couple books, and a videogame.

Ate too much food. Pulled pork, italian beef, tons of sides.

Boy also got a water bottle and mount for his bike.

No great place to mount it. Either underneath or right on the top tube. Toyed with handlebar mount for a minute but I think the added weight and dynamic load wouldn't be a great idea there. Underneath could work but it would get sprayed with puddle water.

Mounted it to the top tube just in front of the seat. Had to drill and screw, so it's permanent ish.

Hey, folks. Good morning.

Heading down to Boca Raton this evening for my daughter's college graduation tomorrow. Looking forward to some great restaurants. Really proud of her. She already started a real job. Last month, she even made her car payment and health insurance co-pay with her own money! I know she will need $$ help from time to time. But, can you say: OFF THE MONTHLY DOLE!?

Wife's gone with the boy all day, so she can't complain about me being in the kitchen or drinking beer all day.

Picked some collard greens from the garden and fried up a batch with extra thick bacon. First time doing it without ham hocks, store only had jowels and snouts which don't give enough gelatin to the mix so I figured go for more flavor instead.

While i was at the butcher shop I bought a 4lb salmon fillet. Coated the fish with fresh dill from the garden, and then sealed it up in a mixture of brown sugar, kosher salt, and fresh ground black pepper. Sitting in the fridge to firm up for a couple hours while the smoker heats up. I've always used lemon slices for the tang, but thought I'd try dill this time since I planted it.

Fired the WSM I inherited from trackday bbq thing (I'm storing the 3 of them now, might as well use em). Kingsford briquettes and some apple chunks. Might sprinkle some hickory chips in there when the meat goes on. I don't feel like Apple gives enough Smokey flavor alone, but do like it as the primary wood.

Peeled a half dozen potatoes and shredded them in the food processor, gonna fry up some crispy potato cakes with a pinch of fresh rosemary to serve the smoked salmon on.

Whipping up a sauce with cream cheese, sour cream and fresh dill to top the cakes.

I'll be surprised if wife eats any. Boy won't. Wife tells him he don't need to eat anything I make cause my food is yucky. I'm pretty stoked.
