Two shootings in two days... I'm excited to see what tommorow will bring!

Will there be another mass shooting? Anyone want to take bets on which state?

It's an exciting time we live in.

Nah, I'm talking last night at Dayton Ohio. ...

Two shootings, two days...

On the up side at least some people are working on reducing our population... I'd prefer if they just didn't have kids... But I guess they decided to go off-script .

Gilroy garlic festival was like a week ago...that barely counts anymore and is at least 5 topics buried in the news cycle.

what's the "safest city in the US"? that's where the next one will happen...

didn't Beto call El Paso that a few days ago? surely jinxed it...

wow....... we've resorted to joking about gun related mass murders in the US, because they have become so common...

sad... and ... shameful

The shooting range was packed today. Glad I’m a member. Didn’t have to wait.

We do have to figure something out.

Meh... Seems like as good a way as any to weed out the screwed up people in our society.

Once they've gone on a shooting spree we know who they are and can either have them shot during the incident or arrested forever. This keeps them from becoming politicians or reality TV stars or anything else more damaging to our society.

Think Chicago had 9 in one shooting last night.

But that's not uncommon there

I mean... I suppose if you want to include random gun violence, there's a mass shooting every day.

But I like these special ones, where completely random victims are killed.... Where it's not just some dymbazz pissed at his parents and killing the whole family, or a drug shootout.

I'm only counting the ones where an azzhole is mad at the world and going to exact his vengeance on it in a giant spectacle....

Is that a serious question? Because the serious answer is the media...

Probably a good idea to post this thread, the EP shooters background has been twisted and projected and were not talking about who the OH was......so if you don’t want to ever let a tragedy go to waste you better maximize your ROI.

Last one was ineffective and crime actually went down AFTER the sunset.....and if you actually know what you’re talking about you would know how ridiculous it was in a practical fashion.

No...was typed with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

I was responding to rogue thoughts in my head born of some weird stuff I've been listening to and reading. I don't actually believe in such a conspiracy.

But learning about some pretty fd up stuff that organizations from FB to casinos to Vizio to big Pharma and big tobacco have undertaken....you learn enough about some evil chit....combined with news about how American Outdoors Brands' NASDAQ price jumps after every mass shooting. I am not suggesting and don't believe it....but can't say I'd be too surprised, either

seems the new level of outrage over these commonplace but horrific catastrophes is directly proportional to one's proximity or relationship to a victim...

I've said it before... we Americans love our guns more than our kids...nothing will change until that equation is reversed...

No, I love my kids more then anything. That's why I taught them how to shoot and defend themselves from the scum roaming our streets.

Here's something that some of you may find of interest.

Back in 2013, President Obama ordered the CDC to perform a study on gun violence. He was hoping that he could declare gun violence a "health epidemic" and bypass our 2nd Amendment.

Though the report came back mostly critical of guns and gun ownership, there where two positive points.

1) The CDC determined that law abiding Americans use firearms between 500,000 and 3,000,000 times EACH year to defend life and property from criminal attack. Most of the time, just the presence of the gun was enough to deter the attack, and shots did not have to be fired.

2) The CDC determined that those who used firearms for self defense where far less likely to be injured, or their injuries where far less severe, then those who used other forms of self defense.

Question: If we outlaw the legal ownership of firearms, are we ready to deal with another 500,000 to 3,000,000 murder/rape/mugging/assault/robbery victims per year?

Not sure there was another CDC survey? I think that one that publicized was done in the 90's. And the 'defense stats' weren't stats at all, but extrapolated from a sampling in just a few states where people were asked if they'd used their guns defensively....not sure the exact question or the numbers involved, but I am pretty sure that citing specific numbers as above is likely inaccurate or possibly misleading

I know it's sarcasm but still poor form.

For those that care to read it. Here is the 2013 CDC report.

They only looked at 4 years (pretty narrowly defined time period) and I don't see the statistics that where referenced above.

Besides...I think CDC has proven repeatedly that it shouldn't be relied upon for gun stats in any shape or form

gun ownership is legal, protected, and here to stay...
and I am a liberal who believes in that right.

I am also a (somewhat) normal person struggling to understand why some limitations on guns of mass destruction can not be the subject of gun control legislation discussions.

guns to protect life, family and property, or for sport, or for hunting do not necessarily have to include guns that can kill dozens of people in seconds. I don't have a plan on what should be limited, but the guns being used to massacre many by lunatics is a good place for the conversation to start.

Let's hear your solution.
the one that will allow we Americans to love our kids more than our guns.
And please don't say "common sense gun laws". be more specific if you can.
I don't own any guns so no need to hold back.

I wouldn't call it sarcasm. I cannot bring myself to care that much about the health and welfare of our population if society in general doesn't care that much about itself. I've never been one to continue caring about drug addicts or other self destructive people.
