I am fairly new to Cigarbid. I have won and received several auctions now. My recent purchase stated they had 3 units available, i won the auction and only wanted one unit. Instead of shipping the cigars i won they are on back order. My question is how can they be on back order if the auction had 3 units and i had the winning bid. Shouldn't i have received one of the three units that was up for auction?

Well, quite a number of online cigar merchant websites curiously all share the same exact warehouse address that CigarBid uses (and they sell the same cigars, including ones that no other truly-unaffiliated entities sell). So, yeah. Officially they're not all the same company, but if you follow the holding companies up the chain, it's a different story.

CigarBid doesn't try too hard to hide it though. As an example, right here on the CigarBid forum, there's an emoji-like image you can use by surrounding the letters CI in square brackets, and here's the image you get:

Herfing

Guess whose logo that is? Not CigarBid's! In fact, the emoji's code "CI" kinda gives it away. So what's a "competitor's" logo doing as an emoji in their forum? Heh-heh-heh. Couldn't be any more blatant really.

Anyway, just a guess here, but I'll bet stock is shared among the various sites, and if so, then they can put up an auction here on CigarBid for 3 units, but by the time the auction closes and you win, 0 units are left in the warehouse because one or more of their other online store websites sold them all out in the meantime. So when you win, they're on backorder.

Again, just a guess, but probably pretty close to the mark, I'll bet.

Oh, and go check on the CI website and see if that exact cigar is backordered. I'll bet it will be, and I'll bet it'll stop being backordered on the CI website right around when your CigarBid backorder ships.

Gosh, what are the odds, eh? Herfing

Ah the good old backordered days. Don't be surprised if you never see those cigars. To be fair they have substituted decent cigars in the past, but they also claimed they emailed me several times about one that was no longer available. Obviously cigars up for auction are not segregated and once in a while they get sold elsewhere. Other than that, the inventory system may be unreliable.

Don’t listen to these azzhats, and I apologize for their rudeness.
Most of them just don’t like noobs.

With respect to your cigars.
They told you they were back ordered, which is the official company line.
The real reason you didn’t get them, and won’t ever get them, is because I wanted them.

One of the many reasons to not shop here. Take it as a lesson and find a vendor with better cigars, prices and shipping options.

Yes, but many of those charge $10, $12 and up per-stick for trendy brands that often aren't any better than stuff you can get here for $3 per stick (if you know what you're doing of course).

Oh, the $10-12 ones will have the bands of the latest trendy hyped brands that everyone is talking about. The $3 CigarBid ones won't. But if you strip the bands and blindfold yourself and smoke 'em both, you may find it hard to tell the difference (again, if you know WHAT to get here, and you know your individual palate well).

Mark Twain even commented on this, how much undue influence the cigar band/brand has on the smoker's judgement, and how it's often (but not always of course) unrelated to actual "blind test" smoking quality.

My CigarBid shipments have always been quite adequately packaged and in good condition, and I've got about a hundred of them containing thousands of cigars. No damaged or dry cigars.

Additional unnecessary padding, unnecessary tiny Boveda packs, a hand-written note in the package (oooh, I feel SPECIAL!), etc. ain't gonna even begin to make up for paying 3-4x as much money.

CigarBid is hard to beat IF you have the requisite knowledge to use it optimally AND you know what items are both quite good (to your personal palate) and also routinely let go for cheap here. This takes time and effort, I admit it's not quick or easy, but once you have it down, you're golden.

For everyone else, there are the $10-12/stick hype-train vendors (the ones nauseatingly mentioned 57 times per day on Reddit's /r/cigars always with gushingly, foaming-at-the-mouth hyper-positive reviews) who give you schitt-tons of padding, a tiny Boveda pack that does nothing substantial, and the handwritten note that, if it were honest, should read "THANKS FOR PAYING HUGE MARKUPS AND HELPING ME BUY MY LATEST MERCEDES, SUCKER!".

Yeah I dont shop at *****Batch either. And I rarely pay 10 or 12 bucks a smoke.

"CigarBid is hard to beat IF..." they shipped the cigars in a timely manner and didnt sell items to people, like this guy in the OP, and then say it's backordered. I have never had a problem with "them" either, but "them" is now the Tenski Place.

I simply never had problems with slow shipping. They always shipped on my week-closing day as they're supposed to, and I nearly always had the package in my hands the very next day (yes, I live close).

They did, along with CI, take a big crap during their I.T. conversion that screwed up orders and ship times, but that was years ago.

I also never had a single instance in which something I won went backordered when the auction closed. Everything shipped, and speedily.

However, I may just have been fortunate. Who knows?

Tenski place is good, I can't argue with you there. Often amazingly-low prices. I did have some dodgy sticks come from them though, that looked like they were rolled by apprentices... who were blindfolded... and had half-numb hands. Really ugly, bad construction, noticeably different ring gauges even though they were supposed to be all the same, etc., nothing like the boxed product.

However, that was one time, and they were $1.50 per stick and smoked pretty okay and tasted okay, so I can't complain too much. The rest of the stuff I've gotten from Tenski has passed muster just fine. Gotta love their $5 hats and such, too. Lots of accessory deals.

#15 No, I never have been stung by them, thankfully. And I dont intend to do so. They've gotten a lot of complaints since 2017, even after the IT problems were fixed. Not everyone could be lying...

Well I've never gotten stung other than that one time I ordered from them... back when I was a saucier in San Antone

I only called him a Beekeeper, which isn’t harsh at all.
And he’s had almost 500 posts, so he’s been around for a while.
He seems to be keeping notes, hopefully only about me.
That would be extremely exciting...

The process involves (1) humans, (2) computers, and (3) a product grown in the ground, and are shaped by humans. Anything can go wrong there. A train, truck or plane crashed and they already put them up for sale, expecting their imminent arrival (not the way I would run it, but face it, few businesses get rich by stockpiling merch...time really IS money). Someone dropped an entire pallet on a Smurf, and the cigars broke apart and are all covered in blue goo. Burglars broke in and stole cigars. Hurricane interrupted transport. They turn out to be riddled with bugs and have to be torched. The were frozen to treat for bugs and cracked when thawing. Marty McFly took them back to 1985, because they are better than anything (legal) being smoked back then. Computer software got incorrect input, malfunctioned and overstated inventory, and/or has a virus. Jeff Bezos tried one, then called and offered to by the entire stock at $1000 a smoke. Someone handled them with bare hands and later tested positive for Hep C. Izonfire hacked the inventory as a prank. Staff really liked them, and the cigars burned in a mysterious fire, one at a time. UPS went on sudden strike. UPS and FedEx were temporarily stalled when they made a blockbuster merger and rebranded as FedUp. Lack of synergy, whatever the hell that is. Someone took Milton's stapler and now he is out for revenge, one weird thing at a time (that'd be SO Milton). You have the same name as I do. They were shipped to Bethlehem in the West Bank instead of Pennsylvania. They were hijacked by Somali warlords and/or pirates. Deliveries keep getting sabotaged by that really Famous place about 10 miles away. CI's neighborhood flooded, and the highest place they could get inventory to was the Pocono Mountains (really, mountains? C'mon, Seattle has higher hills downtown). They were annexed by Russia. The fog of war. Ennui. Obstinance. Happenstance. Ignorance. Arrogance. Hindrance. Dalliance. Petulance. Flatulence. Ambulance. Jim Nance. Fartypants. Ants in the pants. Aliens beamed down, use them to probe HELLO!

Contact customer service with a polite WTH? They tend to be fairly open and polite back.

Or....just listen to Pudding....who I think of as sort of the 'Victor' of the Cigar Discussions. Despite appearing to think that he knows nearly everything -- I somehow manage to disagree with nearly everything he says.

But, as he does sometimes qualify...stuff here is subjective. Tastes (and opinions) rightly vary

Sorry. Wasn't being lazy, just apparently not funny. It was meant to be more of a stream of consciousness thing, like try to do this in one (hundred, apparently) breath. I went back over it and I don't think it would be any better broken up.

Hey, they can't all be winners, folks. Please be sure to tip your waitstaff.

#29 Sorry. After losing sight in one eye, I reset the resolution on my computer and run my browser windows in at least 125% mode so that I don't have to hold a magnifying glass up to the screen (and some times, I have to do so anyway at 150%). I tend to forget this might look different to a standard setup.

Ha!.........no chit.
I’m on an iPad Mini.
Btw.........I too only have one eye that works well enough to read anything.........with readers.
Happened 28 years ago (stick). Didn’t lose the eyeball thankfully, but can’t see worth a chit out of it, which isn’t the end of the world, and I’ve adjusted...........except when working on cars.........then it’s a REAL pain in da azz........yer on yer back, under da car, trying to look at something in a tight spot, and only your chitty eye has the good angle...

Our apologies for any inconvenience. Periodically, we encounter inventory discrepancies. Definitely, not intentional; quite frankly, I don't like backorders either.

Your item came in and should be shipping out today. Of course, no additional shipping.

Anytime you have an issue or a question, shoot me a message. I am always glad to help!

#32 Wow, ain't that the truth. Plus, under the hood of modern cars, it's like electronic pasta. I recall working for Sears when we'd get something like a mid 70's Dodge in, and I could install a new set of shocks in 15 minutes. I don't even attempt my own LOFs now (back issues, too), and an oil change runs over $50 around here. Highway robbery. Plus, our cars take like 5-6 quarts, 5W20 (remember when nearly all cars took 40 weight?), etc. I still recall seeing my older brother drop a new engine in his 74 F-150, bolting it together by standing in the engine bay. My 2008 F-150 has some daylight between the compartment and the engine, but the 2007 Mustang is so tight that I can't figure out how the hell the mice get into it once in a while. Thankfully, we have owls, eagles, etc., in the area, so not a lot of mice.

I always figured sight would be the worst sense to lose. Losing half of it has confirmed that for me, and nearly 2 years after losing all but about 5% in the corner and I'm still trying to get used to it, but I am very grateful I still have the one. If I'd had a better doctor three years ago, I might still have sight in both eyes. You think of all patients, they'd be most careful with a lawyer just to avoid problems. Case on that is pending. Health care in a rural area...I'd probably be better off going to the local vets.

I was just damn lucky that the best eye surgeon in Santa Cruz county was “on call” the day I had my accident.
He saved my eyeball, stitched up what was left of my cornea, and did an awesome cosmetic job on my eye lid.
My only option is a cornea transplant, and I’m not going that route, cause if it fails, I’m screwed. I can “see” good enough out of it..........in fact........pretty good in the dark.........it’s bright light and daylight when all the corneal scars bounce light all over inside my eyeball that causes my vision issue.
Getting those 22 stitches, taken out of my eyeball, 2 at a time, once a week for 11 weeks was no fun.
My luck? The LAST one, he couldn’t get.........said not to worry.......it would dissolve in 5 years or so.....heh heh.
