So back on September 4th, my truck throws a code and I take it to the dealer. They perform a recall (ECU reflash) and reset the "electronic throttle control" code and give it back.
Today, less than 2 weeks and about 300 miles on the odometer later... it throws the same code. I dropped it off at the dealer and they put me in a rental car. A Ford fkn Focus is not equivalent to a RAM 1500 EcoDiesel... just saying.
Here's a bit of our banter via text when I got off work today:
Him: Sir, they discovered a leak at the EGR cooler. I ordered the part, it should be here tomorrow, I should have you back in your truck Friday.
Me: Okay... Wait a second... wouldn't that cause a coolant leak?
Him: It was leaking internally.
Me: What? Where does it go?
Him: Into the oil.
Me: Well great. We doing an oil change, too?
Him: Yes, we put new oil in it as well.
Me: What could possibly go wrong with coolant contaminated oil? *sarcasm*
Him: Absolutely nothing come on.
Me: LOL.
Absolutely nothing? Really? I'm no diesel mechanic, but I have done preventive and corrective maintenance on plenty of machinery that required lube oil, and contaminated oil is BAD. I barely put 300 miles on it since they did the last fix. They obviously cleared the code, did the fkn reflash and called it fixed... and I went another 300 miles with coolant in my oil before it acted up again. Incompetent douches.
Fortunately it has 10.5 quarts, and I keep my dash set to show me the reading on the coolant, oil and trans temp all the time. None were ever out of parameters.
