Back to work. 12hr OT another step towards getting shingles.

Only $3k to go to pay all cash upfront.

Roofer that initially said he couldn't get it done this year called back and said he had a cancellation and could move me up to likely end of next month so it's grind time.

Good deal jes, must be local store similar to Aldi.

Aldi and LIDL were started by members the same family.
Here's a link if you are interested in the story.

Our LIDL is about a three minute drive from our house. We LOVE the store !

Love Aldi's, but we also have a Price Rite and 4 other Supermarkets in our area TO GIVE THEM COMPETITION.

All the school aged kids in town (possible county, not sure) are reading a book together... Last year was Charlie and the chocolate factory... This year is Charlottes Web...

Read the first couple I chapters to the kids tonight before bed and had a lot of fun doing so...

I'm taking a page out of my freshman English teachers playbook for teaching Romeo and Juliet and explaining a great deal of the chapters contents prior to reading it... Figure since the book is a bit much for a 5 and 6 year old, it will take a bit of work out of piecing the plotline together...

and we already talked about the fact that spiders really don't live All that long, and sometimes happy stories have some sad parts too...

Promised the wife I'd smoke a chicken by Wednesday, thinking my workweek is over Tuesday morning.

Brined it overnight and threw it in the electric smokey box this morning. She'll probably have to take it out when it's done, but I did what I could to make it happen.

Good morning, my fellow Americans.

So, yesterday, my wife gets a call from CVS to let her know that her prescription is in. ($24)
She calls them to find out why there is a $24 charge, as she gets them for free with her BC/BS plan.
CVS informs her that they tried to run it thru her plan and was told that the plan was cancelled.
She then calls BC/BS to find out what's going on, and they tell her that her plan was cancelled due to non-payment.
She tells them that she has made EVERY payment, and has the debit card receipts to prove it.
The payments are due before the 30th of every month, and she always pays them on the 24th or 25th, as that's when we get our $$$ from pensions and SS.
Well, apparently, the April payment, which was debited from our account on the 25th never got posted by BC/BS on THEIR end until the 5th of May, (10 days AFTER she made the payment), and they cancelled her coverage.
She asked them why, if her coverage was cancelled, did they continue to accept her monthly payments for the following 3 months, and WHY didn't BC/BS notify us of the cancellation . Two and a half hours on the phone last night, with no answers, and she is on the phone again this morning trying to straighten it out.

ram27bat ram27bat ram27bat

Rant over . . . for now.
(pending results of her conversation with BC/BS this morning)

jes

Been riding a razors edge for the last 8 days. It's coming any time now.

Got all the machines running the body, no chance of meaningful recovery but family keeps saying do everything.

I've established a routine, doesn't take much work on my end at this point to keep things going for 12 hours. I'll keep doing that but don't feel like taking on a new case once this one expires.

I may have just skimmed this, but I think Danm just said he routinely kills patients with a razor's edge every 8 days..... and it doesn't take much work, so he'll keep doing it. OhMyGod OhMyGod OhMyGod OhMyGod

Yeah, if you read between the lines, it's pretty evident he's losing patients...

Amazing how someone can take an inefficiency or ineptness and turn it in to the reason we should keep them and someone else is worse.

Compare admin. costs for medicare vs BC/BS or any other private payer. $$ spent on medical care vs $$ spent on administrative duties. That would be interesting to see.

Jespear - good luck. My experience with BC/BS is they tend to get things fixed quicker than the vast majority of other payors. But it is a pain in the ass.

Wife was on the phone this morning with a very knowledgeable and sympathetic gentleman from 'The Marketplace".
He told her that her coverage should not have been cancelled and that HE would contact BC/BS and straighten things out.
He also told her that of ALL the BC/BS problems he gets, 90% of them are from Pennsylvania.

Well... wire transfer went through today. Buyer will be coming over after work to hand me a cashier's check for the remainder of the balance and driving away with his (new to him) boat.

*sigh*
