Sir Cereal City Cigar Smoker you occupy a special place in my heart you magnificent bastid! He was kind enough to send me a few different Liberty coffins awhile back just because I mentioned in another post I hadn't seen one in awhile. If that doesn't get you Knighted nothing will.

I've been eyeballing this 2008 Liberty like it owed me money since it arrived. I thought, I'll wait for something special. Well, today was that day! The something special? No one else is home and even the cats are sleeping. Peace and quiet.I love the Jewish holiday's.... mainly because they know to leave me out of it all. Just me and my friend here. No music, no anything except a small glass of room temp H2O.

I opened this guy up and removed the tissue paper and struck plume heaven. I touched it and left finger prints on it. At first I panicked and thought maybe somehow spores got into another box but no, No, no, no, no. This smoke is unreal.

I gotta admit, I always thought it was a bit gimmicky to wrap a second wrapper in a wide stripe over the main wrapper but, it's really, really, good! I always figured they would overpower any subtly in the smoke but, they really compliment each other amazingly well! It's a strip of Corojo over a Colorado Maduro wrapper. Getting a lot of coffee and of course pepper. But, it's not as strong as you would expect on the draw. But, on the retrohale that pepper lights you up in the beginning! There are a few other notes of spices that I can't quite place but am really enjoying trying to figure it out. It not a hot spice like the pepper.... the only words I can think of to describe it is a sweet earthy spice. I was surprised by how fast it smoked though. No burn issue's, it didn't get hot and soft like most cigars will if you smoke them fast. It was like the pepper and earthiness swapped places by the end. Enjoyed every second of it.

The first third smacks you around with really strong flavors like any Maduro but by the time I got to the last third it was that sweet soft spice that I can't place and it's driving me nuts. I am so glad I decided to smoke it alone with no distractions. It demands and deserves your full attention. This is not a cigar I would expect from Camacho. But, man.... I'm really glad they made this. The Maduro wrapper came out swinging in the beginning but by they end it almost came off like a Mexican San Andre wrapper.

So, thank you again for this really relaxing and enjoyable hour I'm spending with my tasty friend. I swear when I took the tissue paper off it looked like someone had rolled it in a very, very, light powdered sugar! I burnt my fingertips and lips on this one.

C3! =d>

Edit: Damnit, I meant to post this one in General not trade. Oh well.....

Dat's der bunny! I couldn't remember what the top forum was called. I was thinking the "general" cigar forum. Didn't care enough to look it up though, so I saluted the general and went about my business. I now dip all my cigars in herbicides, kills the mold and brain cells. But it makes the colors sound right!

Edit: I even took a pic of it because the plume was that obvious. I don't carry pics of my kids around but I will be printing out a pic of this smoke to carry with me!

I have seen how popular they are now though, what do you think changed?
Ive seen similar claims about CAO but haven't noticed much of a change.

I'm one of those that used to like CAO....

What happened is easy to explain. For some making money became more important than making cigars. For others, they stayed the same and we changed.

By the way Stephen, thank you for the details in that write up. "I learned something new today!" I took a glass of water with me to smoke that Undercrown this morning instead of coffee or other beverage. It really made the cigar stand out and discerning flavors easier. Good thing to know.

Nice! I still remember "that moment" when it was suggested to me and I tried it. Funnily enough I was also smoking Undercrowns at the time and it became a whole new cigar.

Oh and when I smoked the 2005 Liberty that sweet earthy spice I couldn't pick out hit me like a ton of bricks. Cinnamon and a touch of leather.....

Brought me back to the strip club day's. Ladies and Gentlemen, now coming to the stage.....

Cao & camacho were bought out a handful of years ago. Since then ,nothing but gurkha type cigars.
