Saw this on Colbert's show last night. Some will absolutely hate it and want to go on a rant. Save it for another thread. I enjoy this just for pure entertainment value. I've watched it at least a dozen times. Kudos to the Colbert crew for this one.

dude made his bones at the 2006 National Correspondent's Dinner as the invited headliner, with a stunned GWB and the GOP hierachy in attendance...the people who planned the event had no idea he was a lefty, since his show at the time featured a faux con wrapped in the trappings of patriotism and the American flag...they forgot to look up the definition of satire...

Fun throwback, thanks.

Of all of America's traditions, I cherish few as much as I do political satire. The best satire, however, can be lost on the target. If I started off on a rant on Bush, I'd be here all day, but I'll give him this much: at least he, unlike the current dolt, wasn't too much of a pu**y to attend these things. Bush's ego at least allowed room for roasting and the occasional self-deprecation.

I applauded and supported GWB when he declared war on terrorism after 9-1-1, and went after Bin Laden in Afghanistan...

but he lost me when he and Cheney and Rumsfeld, along with their neo-con allies, ginned up the War on WMD in Iraq and forgot about Bin Laden...when the Great Recession over-took his administration, he became one of the worst POTUS in history, though still a decent and likable man...

Trump has taken over that title, without the endearing attributes...
