Best bang-for-buck cigar glue?

Hey guys. Awhile back I bought the PerfecDraw tool and the same guy's PerfecRepair cigar glue.

The PerfecDraw tool fixes localized "plugs", something I am told is common in CCs but I have only rarely experienced in NCs (but when I do, the tool really shines and saves the cigar from the trash bin). NC draw problems are usually a too-tight roll end-to-end, and the tool can't help with that. Still, a very nice piece of kit to have.

The PerfecRepair glue, however, comes in tiny and pricey bottles. The guy who makes it claims it's superior to normal pectin or gum arabic as a cigar glue because it has tiny cellulose fibers that criss-cross and strengthen the bond upon drying.

I don't really believe this, I suspect ordinary pectin or gum arabic probably works just about as well, and perhaps this is just a marketing pitch to keep people buying tiny expensive bottles rather than large, cost-effective bottles of ordinary pectin or gum arabic.

My question is twofold:

1. Do pectin and gum arabic work well?
2. What's the most cost-effective brand, bottle size, source, etc.?

I'm mostly interested in gluing down wrappers that start unravelling at the head (very common), and also occasionally putting a glue-plug over air holes (less common).

Please share any wisdom you have, because I'm sick of paying a lot for tiny bottles. Thanks!

If you really want a bang for the buck, go with a nitro glycerine based glue and be very careful.

I've used powdered pectin and just mixed it as needed. I used the yellow box sure-jell that doesn't have added sugars. It's not ideal IMO, it has a flavor and can go on a bit thick and grainy, but it does work and the bag lasts basically forever since you only mix tiny quantities at a time.

I know some people who have used the liquid pectin, but that's a big pouch and I don't know long it will last once opened.

Another one I've heard of being used, but not used myself at least for cigars, is Pomona's Pectin (might have to go to a whole foods type market to find this), which uses a calcium activator. You can mix it to a thinner consistency and still have it harden properly. This might be the best of both - you can get some empty nail polish bottles and just mix enough to fill a bottle or two. You get the convenience of liquid pectin and the savings of powder.

Testor's model glue in a room with poor ventilation. After a few minutes, you forget about...wait, what was the question?

What? How many bottles do you go through?
Stow and cut your cigars better.
You keep talking about cost effectiveness....but you have rarely needed a draw tool.....how many times over has that PerfecDraw paid for itself....for those rare uses?
You routinely knock Cuban cigars yet claim zero first hand knowledge.
Not since Potts have I encountered anyone so wordy that I disagree with so completely
Buy a bottle of Ligador on Amazon for under ten bucks and be happy

I like the PerfecRepair glue. Works good and fast. Yeah I guess it is a little pricey for the small bottle but I've only used 1/3 of the bottle in 4 months of smoking. For me that's like around 300 sticks. At that rate would only be one bottle for every 900 sticks. Also very portable.
