finally taking care of the tingling fingers that wake me up a dozen times a night and bother me on the phone and when driving and other times all day.

carpal tunnel part will be a breeze, recovery is easy. But the surgeon is also moving the ulnar nerve so it's behind a muscle to keep it from rubbing a bone in my elbow. That's been a bigger issue and though not a terrible recovery, will keep my arm wrapped at a right angle for 3 to 4 weeks.

anyone been through this and able to offer some tips about getting dressed and stuff?

Thanks

Get a live-in nurse and get a knobber every morning before she dresses you.
At night, after she undresses you, get another one

my two cents... **** clothes... pair of boxers, maybe get the crotch leather-reinforced to protect from falling cigar ash...

see if the surgeon will switch your thumb and index finger... I've got a theory...

Bandage up your other hand and go to the sperm bank to make a donation. Ask the nurse for help.

I think you should hire a “home help” nurse.

Don’t have any experience with that surgery or, obviously, the recovery but wishing you the best of luck tomorrow and post-surgery rehab.

Wear a Mariners jersey. Right after surgery, the team will sign you to a contract. Minimum wage in the majors is over half a mil. Plus, Seattle is pretty nice.

Seriously, good luck. The best medical advice I could ever give anyone is don't get it on the island where I live.

I don't really deal with ortho much, but follow the instructions.

We bring people through the experience thousands of times over. While there are outliers, the standards of treatment are based on what works best for the majority. The patients that think they're the outlier, or "I know my body" and don't adhere to the script, tend to do the worst but sometimes get away with it. Some adhere perfectly and don't do well, but it's much more rare to see that than to see noncompliance be successful.

Good luck Frank.

Whatever floats his boat. Good luck, Frank.
I agree with Danm's following instructions advice. Different surgery but the kid had similar requirements for a shoulder issue. They warned it could completely undo all the work. Given the monetary investment, I requested a full body cast for him to lock him down, but apparently that hampers rehab drastically

He doesn't need another nurse. Isn't this why we all got married in the first place?

So what I'm hearing is that it will work once per facility. There must be multiple places, so all kinds of different nurses to get to help you.

you can try shoulder shrugs and torso twists to achieve acceptable results...if the sling allows wrist and finger movement, that's really all you need....

got an idea...how well does your other upper appendage respond to mental commands?

best of wishes for a happy ending....errr, for a full recovery....

Pretty sure frank already needs to incorporate torso twists and shoulder shrugs to play with his tripod when he has two working hands....

I had carpel tunnel repair surgery, best thing ever! Most of my hand would go numb and hurt like heck the rest of the time, I waited until I had some germinate nerve damage being stoic.

After the operation I took one ibuptofin. no other pain pills. Then I followed the Doc's orders about not lifting things. My palm was sensitive to pressure for abut 6 months but 90% of that is gone now. Best of all, I'm back to shooting heavy recoil rounds including a 7mm-08 pistol.

Prayers for a great result and a quick recovery.

My wife had shoulder surgery last year and spent about six weeks sleeping sitting up, sounds like you might have a couple of weeks in a similar position!!
