Monday's are like my Friday.

But they're pretty Monday-ish at work. Still, end of the road and looking forward to 5 days off. Hopefully roofers are able to start this week as planned. Would rather not have to try to sleep during the day while they do their thing.

Morning guys. Crappy looking day, but still here to bitch about it. That's an overall win I guess.

Not the ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon, but able to help them a bit.

Watched Ferrari implode in the Brasil Grand Prix.

Yeah, probably the beginning of the end for Vettel in Maranello. I think it was more his fault than Leclerc's. Ferrari, and Vettel in particular, have been under performing for the majority of the season. Leclerc has been the pace setter for the team. It was still a good race to watch. fog

Looks like another day of great weather...

Ugh! Wife took a new job and we have to go on COBRA until she is eligible for insurance from her new employer. $2,600/month and the older employer used to pay for her health insurance each month.

Seemed like in the early 1980's that Health Insurance costs started skyrocketing. Somewhere in that time period insurance cost was as little as $ 600 a year for an employee. The advent of health insurance also accounts for the incredible increase in medical costs. Way back a doctor was paid directly by the patient and his expenses were for an office that included only one employee. Now a doctor has at least 2 employees and has to run the practice as a business and deal with several insurance companies. Insurance companies have thousands of employees, huge offices and a lot of equipment. The middle man now costs way more than the product.

Yep. And it all goes back to world war II when the government capped executive salaries to stop poaching. Up until that point employer provided health care was not a common thing. Adding "And we'll pay for your families insurance!" was another lure to attract talent over the cap. That was the start of all of this.

Just polishing off a burnt ends rueben sandwich. I threw a corned beef point on the smoker and cooked it to burnt ends, then tossed the cubes with a Guinness glaze.

Holy crap is this good. Corned beef burnt ends, kraut, thousand island all nestled in a hot dog bun. Amazing. Chef

Outlander is supposed to be a good model. I had an Endeavor (supposed to be more problematic) that performed flawlessly up to 143000 until it didn't survive a 40mph rear end collision

Robert,
Things certainly may have changed but as long ago as 2005, you could elect COBRA and didn't have to pay for it for 90 days. If your new insurance kicked in before that 90th day, you could deselect COBRA and owe nothing.

If your wife falls into that 90 day category, check into it.
