Good thing they only made a single batch of them.

The last Padilla's I ever bought were some of the Artemis....those made me swear off the brand, which was a shame as the 32's were very nice and affordable once upon a time.

In my opinion, they made some good stuff back in the day (the Pepin-rolled 1932s with block not cursive letting on the band, for example).

However, later I experienced some "irregularities" with their stuff, and I'll just leave it at that. Stopped buying their stuff at that point.

I wouldn't recommend the brand today.

it's a decent average cigar. Has a great draw. Not bad at all for $2!

Ernesto wants to be like RP that’s all you need to know.

It seems I am not the only one having problems with this brand. I picked up a 5er of the Dominus on here pretty cheap (now I know why no one bid). They cracked and unraveled like crazy and now I am avoiding this brand due to the bad first impression.

Stop it!
I’m pretty sure you have never met a cigar you didn’t like!
Ernesto is cranking out turds and has been for years now.

“Not bad at all for $2!”

Padilla is on my short list of brands to avoid. Perhaps that is not fair to the brand but I wont bother finding out. I made an impulse buy of 2 bundles of Cava maduro robustos on another site. In my defense I did try a fiver first and thought they would make an acceptable yard gar if they went on sale again. Worst purchase ever.

Long ago the Series 68 Robusto, with a good nap, was a good cigar.
Then they went downhill fast..........like most of Ernesto’s offerings.

There used to be a single-location, family-owned independent pizza place in my area. They made excellent pizza for decades.

Then, for whatever reason, they decided they could dumb down the quality of the product and use schitt ingredients, call the product the same name and put it in the same boxes and simply not say anything about the radical quality change.

Wow, what a great plan, reducing costs of raw materials and increasing margin! And if you call it the same name and use the same packaging, you can "coast" on the great reputation of the brand's prior quality and none of the rube customers will ever notice!

Except they did. Shortly after, everyone noticed the product now sucked and told all their friends, the brand's reputation was ruined, nobody bought the product anymore and they went out of business.

B-b-but it had the same name and packaging!!!!

This is my take away from the brand. I don't want to judge a brand by a single cigar but people have had cigars I haven't had from this brand and it does not sound good.

Seen that before. When I was stationed in Long Beach I bar-tended part time. I worked at a neighborhood place just down the road from Mc-Douglas that had great burgers, chile, and schooners. The special at lunch was a schooner and burger for $3 if I remember right. His wife made a big pot of the best damned chili every Monday and we used it all week, we would sell out by Thursday usually. Folks would be stacked up in there like cordwood. Holy crap.

Well the owner got greedy. Dude was making a killing but evidently not fast enough. He sourced the burgers from a "cheaper" vendor and made them a bit smaller. "Nobody will know the difference!" Yeah.

Then he cut back on the condiments and seasoning to some generic stuff. We couldn't use mayo (which had been a standard) unless the customer asked. Then, when he started not making enough as business was dropping off, he raised the prices. d'oh!

All of us had tried telling him the new burgers sucked and go back to the old ones, even at a higher price and you'll be good. Nope, he knew better, so this is the way. End of an era. I quit about then, I had had enough. It was really too bad. That place was a gold mine and a great neighborhood hang. Last time I went by there it was shuttered.

Do not mess with success.

Agree with what errbody is saying. I used to smoke the sh*t outta Padillas. The original Hybrid, Miami, and Habano were some of my favorite smokes. I remember reading something about Ernesto screwing somebody over or something and had to find another factory to produce his cigars. I guess Padilla has become another CI/C-Bid bargain brand like Gurkha and Torano.

Oh yes, forgot about the Miami!
I loved those as well back in the day, and then they went to chit, literally like overnight!

32s, 48s, 68s, Miami’s were my jam, never cared for the Hybrid at any production point.
