Did not feel like firing up the egg yesterday afternoon. Threw a couple of fillets on the gaser and an assist from Four Roses Specially Select OBSV, 104 proof and Trinidad Reyes. Thought this was more of a food and beverage pic than about cigars.

Nice. Looks like a good meal right there.

I don't even remember how I cooked before I got my thermapens.

I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday than with an Auburn fan watching them beat Bama followed by watching LSU maul TAMU while eating great food, sipping great bourbon and smoking great cigars with a great friend.

Dang! I was hoping to see a picture of a '40 Willys Coupe or a '55 210 or a '65 Falcon gasser.

For me a resounding yes. Best instant read I have owned. I know a lot of people really like the therma-pen but for the price difference I will go with the pop.

Frank, as you probably know it is backlit which I really like. I have had this one for a year and a half and probably need to purchase another as a backup. Think I will make that purchase in the few minutes.

Hell yes. I gave my girls all thermapops when they came out.

I have 3 or 4 thermapens and the smoke setup for my bbq that goes to my phone. Can't cook without one of them. LOL.

Checked out, but still on the fence. I have know doubt it’s an excellent thermometer.

Back 30 years ago all that was available were analog *instant* reads; the ones with the red sleeve. When I apprenticed as a chef it was one the first tools of the trade I purchased. It takes about 3-4 seconds to read. Over the years I’ve checked the calibration a few time. Always +/- a degree or two. Still have it and use it anytime I cook a roast, whole turkey or chicken, etc...

Never had a need for a backup. Yet, my wife purchased a digital 4-5 years ago. It takes f - - o - - r - - e - - v - - e - - r to get close. Once it’s within10-15 degrees it starts increasing at a rate of about 3 seconds per tenth of a degree. Grass grows faster than it reads. One day I tossed in the trash and told her it was a piece of 💩. Within 15 seconds she dug it out of the trash can, washed it throughly and put it back in the drawer. Since I do about 99.9999999999999999999999 % of the cooking the only time it has moved since is when a start tossing around other utensils trying to find something.

Not a clue my friend. I can’t justify even 1 clue. But, every crowd has at least one peanut gallery member.

Thermapens do not have that problem. They're actually instant read. Within a second. But if you've got a good instant analog, run what you brung! Chef

I just switched a few years ago. Never looked back. Beer

Knowing me I’ll pull the trigger within a week or so. I have to vacillate first.....as usual.
