^^^^^^^^^^^^ This. (With one local exception!*)
Their whole platform is just so freaking far out there.
But, to her specifically? She's a gun banner/confiscator. She's from Hawaii, I get it (no offense Conan), but that ain't going to fly in Peoria. Well, it might in Peoria proper, but not in the surrounding county I guarantee.
That's one of the big problems they've got this cycle. There have been so many of those Nazi wanna-be's running around finally telling the actual truth about the parties platform they have a HUGE problem. And before you start trotting out the "nobody wants to" BS, I have a million clips of various democrats spewing "Turn them all in Mr. and Mrs. America". Yeah, yeah they do. Once again reinforced by the latest crop of nimrods.
So anyway. The asterisk.
*My accountant was running for the County Treasurer/Collector. She's a screaming liberal. Bad. But, she's a damned good accountant. Which I find odd. How can one reconcile fiscal conservatism with the democratic platforms? But I do trust her financial judgement. And the Republican that has been in there is shady as all get out.
So I voted for her. She lost anyway, which may have been a good thing the way she goes party line now that she is on the city council, but Que Sera, Sera. For one election there was a democrats yard sign among all the republican ones in my yard.
"Yes, I know it's there, leave it be. No, you can't put that idiots sign in my yard. Thank you!"
