Little Debbie reject Greta Thunberg was named times person of the year... A child from an upper class Swedish home who skipped a year of school to sail the world in a luxury yacht and chastise world leaders for stealing her childhood...

The person of the year was not:

Hong Kong protesters, who risked and sometimes lost their lives fighting for democracy...

MMA fighter Justin Wren, who risks his life helping disadvantaged tribes in the Congo, rescued a child from bullying, and then took that child around the US to meet other heroes who also aren't Time's person of the year...

Mr. Jones for saving the lottery companies from unclaimed tickets to deal with at tax time...

If she really believes what she is preaching, maybe she should go to Tiananmen square and proclaim her religion to the Chinese. After that she could go to India. But no, she chastised Americans who have greatly reduced their carbon footprint, and continue to do it day after day. Person of the year? Maybe spoiled angry entitled brat of the year.

Meh.... private organization which can name anyone they want person of the year. If you notice they didn't ask any of you for your opinion on it.

They chose her for their own reasons (reasons which none of us will likely know). They could have chosen tiny hands twitler and that would be their prerogative.

"The media" is a vague term and that basically makes your entire statement worthless.

Everything you get outside "information" from is media. Yet you seem to think whatever information you believe on a daily basis is credible.

never stated who they should or should not have named person of the year... you may have let your own insecurities about our president sneak into my post...

What I did was simply point out the mindset of yet another liberal media organization whose hatred for the president has left them blind to reality...

as far as none of us knowing their reasons for doing so, that's laughable... everyone knows why they did it, even the liberals who pretend they don't...

A mentally disabled dropout child of actor parents reads a prepared statement (of which she didn't write nor research!) scolding adults into whipped little puppies for not kowtowing to the UN, New World Order and Agenda 21 purported "Global Warming", Climate Change" or some other yet moving goalpost buzzword to terrify the media into covering harder than Caitlyn Jenner getting a mani/pedi and wins Time's "Man of the Year" award.

Whoopie and seriously WGAF!?

She shares the award with Adolf Hitler, so Time's arbiter of character and worthiness means less than Eric Swalwell's gaseous explosion on live TV!

In addition to Opel's candidates that didn't win I humbly submit...

Nick Sandman, whom stared down the race baiters and hate driven media wasn't their pick.

Conan, the military hero that chased the cowardly ISIS leader into pulling the ripcord on his explosive vest wasn't their pick.

Boyan Slat, the 26 year old that has invented a number of ways to solve the global problem of plastic removal in our seas wasn't their pick.

When's the last time anyone has ever read a Time magazine? When's the last time anyone has seen a Time magazine?

Yeah. So there's that. What a year, where does the time go.

I only used twitler as an example of someone I don't like, but wouldn't care if they named him. It had nothing to do with any "reason".

You're the one in sentence two claiming they did this in some relation to twitler.

I'm not dumb enough to assume I know why a huge organization led by a large number of people with varying goals would do something.

Then define "the media".
Is breitbart part of your definition? Explain why or why not.
Is OANN part of your definition? Explain why or why not.
Is that moronic Prager U part of your definition? Explain why or why not.
Is the idiotic memes posted on facebook by everyone's racist uncle part of the definition? Explain why or why not.

You made a useless generic statement without any actual value and then call me a troll?
Perhaps you should say things more valuable and you'll get better responses.

though it must be well over 20 years since I read Time or Newsweek with any regularity outside of twice a year at the dentist office, I seem to recall that Person of the Year (formerly Man of the Year) has absolutely nothing to do with positive accomplishments but rather the person, in their opinion, who was the most newsworthy...hence the naming of Adolph Hitler one year.

It would be wrong to equate the decision makers with pushing a liberal agenda with the award...I feel funny even calling it an award as it is so meaningless in real value.

Person of the Year (called Man of the Year or Woman of the Year until 1999) is an annual issue of the United States news magazine Time that features and profiles a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year".

so everyone can put down their pitchforks and go home.

One could say the same thing about every single person mentioned in this thread except twitler.

And you still haven't provided an explanation for what "the media" refers to.

further debunking the "liberal " tag, here are other "controversial" or con choices besides Hitler:

Stalin, Kruschev, Ayatollah Khomeini, Nixon (2x), Reagan, GWB

Meh.... name any actual influence either Hong Kong Protesters, Justin Wren or Mr Jones had on the events of this year.

They did things. But the world didn't change because they did things. They actually exerted no real influence.

Your argument is empty because your choices aren't actually any better. You perceive them as better because they're more meaningful to you. But nothing has actually changed due to any of the actions.

Nonsense to the core...

The extradition bill was actually retracted as a result of the Hong Kong protests...

Pygmy tribes actually drank fresh water and lived instead of dying as a result as Wren's actions and a teenage boy who was being bullied didn't kill himself...

I won't even get started on Jones cuz if you don't get that one you're a lost cause...

yes. And I'm sure that this will have long lasting impact [eyeroll]. China has literally moved troops and started riot drills for them. Withdrawing the bill doesn't mean they've changed the minds of the people in power. It just means they forestalled the inevitable for a little longer.

neither of these things have a measurable impact on the world.
Saving pygmy tribes that don't interact with the world is not going to influence the world. That's like saving drafter's invisible canadian girlfriend's life. A single teenage boy living or dying is not a statistical influence, otherwise literally millions of people will qualify.

Caused Time magazine to chop down more trees to print their rag, not to mention the fuel charges to deliver it wherever it's sold or delivered!!! GASP!

Imagine the Carbon Footprint being used by all to go get Time magazine and have it being delivered!!!! GASP!!!

How's THAT FOR "INFLUENCING"!

"climate change" or "man made climate change"?

"Man made climate change" is a farce!

"Climate change" is a real thing. Been happening since earth's existence. If you think there's anything, ANYTHING, we
humans can do to alter, change or slow down "climate change" I have a bridge to sell you. I'll give you a really good deal.

Before any of you "climate change" alarmists tell me how stupid I am please read a book on the subject. If you have read a
book on the subject please do tell the title and author.

I've mentioned "climate change" books on here before. The very best and easiest to read is

Inconvenient Facts: The science Al Gore Doesn't Want you To Know by Gregory Wrightstone. Written in a way even liberals
can understand.

The only person I need to impress is my wife. I wish it were on a nightly basis but some of you know what it's like to have
been married for a while.

Now, if you are arguing my statements about "man made climate change" I'll save the nicest bridge for you. I'll give you a
really good deal. REALLY good!

FIFY
I just dug through the gregory wrightstone website on that book.
I think your biggest problem is you need something that's "easy to read". Maybe if you read something more technical you would actually get correct information.

I read more of this guy's website.
He blatantly lies to his readers (citing data that is not from where he claims), he doesn't do the simplest of analysis of the data he presents (and hopes that his readers won't dig in and read the source material)... It appears that he doesn't actually read the articles he is refuting, or is hoping that his readers don't read them, because his arguments are not even based on the information presented in the papers.

This guy is bunk. He probably should be on Prager U. Hell, he probably was on Prager U.

An easy example of how he lies to his audience is in his section on "Heat & Life, Cold & Death" in which he is claiming to refute an article published in The Lancet on the health impact of temperature change.
Ignoring the many, many other problems in his section, let's look specifically at the premise of the Lancet article. The lancet article states that changes in temperature will lead to a number of factors globally which will increase human deaths. Drought, food shortages, spread of infectious disease, etc... primarily in low-to-middle income countries. His response is that it must be false because there has been a decrease in deaths due to heat stroke in European countries.

Note... European countries for the most part aren't falling in the low-to-middle income countries. They are not anywhere close to an adequate representation.
Secondly, note he is trying to refute an article identifying indirect impacts of climate change by saying it must be false because this direct impact (which is easily fixed in wealthy countries with an air conditioning unit) did not occur.
