YEP, Grandchildren can hold a little different spot in your heart than others. Not that you don't love your children just as much, it's just something a little bit of extra that's hard to explain.

We seem to have much more patience with the grandkids as well. She's a cutie, you are definitely blessed, as am I.

Ya know, Mark, my neighbor, (4 granddaughters), tried to explain this to me, and told me I wouldn't understand FULLY until I had grandkids of my own. NOW, I know exactly what he meant.

It's easy as hell to explain! Not my job to change them diapers. When you smell it or feel the "squishy" just yell out "CLEAN UP ON AISLE 2 or 1". Easy peazy.

When you get to babysit them you go to the store and get that keyboard that makes 1000 songs to learn with or a set of drums. You weren't allowed to get it for their parents so now they get to enjoy it with their kids! WINNING!

Speaking of which...one thing I usually do...when they're over...look at them and ask if they've ever had MtDew..."No, I ve never had it!"...WHAT??? Why that's a crime against humanity! Let's go to the store right now! Leave and come back with a ring pop for each finger looking like Sammy Davis Jr, a candy necklace and all jacked up on MtDew like a spider monkey with ice cream sandwich or carmel drumstick backer! Send 'em on home and then it's time to fire up a cigar and pour a couple fingers of scotch!

That wasn't too hard to explain bro!

she is truly stunning, John.
I'll assume Sal has a strong genetic presence.

Well, my theory is this. By the time your own kids are grown and out of your house, they have sucked every last bit of patience, joy, and humanity out of your soul. After all, they are a reflection of your parenting skills and as such, your responsibility.

The grand-children are sent here to put all that back and make you human again. They are penance for the parents and their behaviors, and a blessing and joy to the grandparents who may spoil them rotten, then send them home.

That's funny, reminded me of Peyton. He was a blessing as it was, and never the normal boy, but he was calm and VERY tough, physically and mentally. He would fall or get all skinned up having a "wreck" on his little power wheel 4-wheeler and with blood running off his arms, just say, "Mommy, I had a wreck". One of the video clips my daughter has of him, he's wound up and talking fast, saying, I'M ALL JACKED UP ON MTN. DEW!!!" It was hilarious. I'm just getting to the point after five years that I can talk or think much about him without choking up.

I think it helped his little sister and my daughter to have another little boy, well not so little, LMAO! He's a big boy and ROUGH, mostly from wrestling with his almost 10 year old sister, but thank goodness, not mean. He accidentally hit his cousin with a toy a couple nights ago and immediately told her he was sorry and hugged her.

With 4 granddaughters, they hold a little bit of a different spot in your heart. The little boys are fun to teach the "bad stuff" hehe.

NOW, as for changing diapers, I have little choice, especially when they are spending the night. He drops some wicked "BOMBS" and I can't wait for him to be potty trained!!!
