For several years, cbidder's have provided an overwhelming amount of support for Special Olympics via this giveaway. On Feb 15th I'll be participating in my 8th Polar Plunge for Special Olympics and all proceeds go directly to Special Olympics. Rules are simple, every $25 donation gets an entry into the drawing. If you donate $50 you get two entries, $100 gets four entries and so on. My parents brought back gifts after a cruise to Cuba last year so I’m excited to send some amazing cigars to the winner.

I normally post a picture of the cigars I'm giving away but I decided to show off my kids. As you may know, I did not post this giveaway last year but I still fundraised and plunged. Our third child, Cooper, was born on Halloween. When my wife was about 9 weeks pregnant we found out that Cooper had Down syndrome. I was actually wearing a Special Olympics t-shirt when we were told that I would have my own future Olympian. Cooper is healthy and happy. We are blessed.

If you're new to this and wondering who I am...my name is Jim Colvin and I've been on cbid for 20 years. I'm a patrol Lieutenant for the Brentwood Police Department in Tennessee and we work very closely with Special Olympics. If you have any additional questions please feel free to ask. Thank you guys for your support!!!

A great looking family. Cuter than all get out.

I will get it done tonight when I get home. Thanks for hosting this, it's a great cause and an outstanding event. I've been fortunate to have volunteered at some of these events. The joy and happiness of those kids is simply inspiring. I'm not sure who gets more out of it. The kids or the volunteers. ThumpUp

Gunner...I couldn’t agree more. I almost feel guilty sometimes because I think I enjoyed it more than they did.

Opelmanta...thank you for your continued support. Not sure how many years you’ve been donating but you’ve certainly been generous.

We’ve been the Popolar Bears since we started. I couldn’t think of a name and my brother in law came up with that in ten seconds.

Four days ago I received an anonymous donation for $50. I have no way of knowing who the donor was. If it was a c-bidder and you're reading this...please send me a message so I can include you in the drawing. The support has been tremendous and I appreciate your support. 9 days left!

Great cause and keep up the body temp and what with our crazy TN weather, maybe you will get lucky once you get out of the water.

Honestly, I had no choice but to jump in the Cumberland River, just North of the lock one COLD late November night back about '99 when I was working on a towboat. The worst part was having to swim back to the boat after getting a line over to a tree, shacke it on the tree, and wait until we could get the barges back together!!

I still see those same two barges as they are docked at the Concrete Company. Just as you cross Rosa Parks Bridge in Nashville you can look north on the west bank and see them. Each of them will hold 3200 tons of dry cement and are 52' wide and 295' long.

Thank you richokeeffe!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry for being out of the loop for a few days. My grandfather passed away after 99 healthy years. He was awesome. He didn't spend a single day in a nursing home or hospital. He ate a bowl of ice cream, went to bed, and passed in his sleep. He always loved talking to me after the plunge...he thought it was crazy that I plunged every year. The funny thing is...he spent a couple of winters sleeping in tents during WWII so this plunge doesn't compare to one minute of what he experienced.

Thank you guys for the support. I'm looking forward to plunging tomorrow and my team has raised over $8,000 so far. I think we'll hit $9,000 by tomorrow if a few of our last minute donors come through. Thanks again and again!!!!

Sounds like a great guy, RIP, Grandpa, and thanks for your service in both cases. Best of luck, this wind chill is rough today, hopefully it will have blown out and be in the 40's tomorrow as the forecast is betting.

Water temp was in the 40's and we raised almost $11,000 for Special Olympics. My 8 year old and 5 year old also took the plunge. :) It was a great event.

I have no way to express my gratitude for your support. I am truly thankful. Tomorrow, I will draw put the appropriate number of entries into a hat and let one of my kids pick the winner. Good luck to all who supported Special Olympics. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We have a winner...we actually have two winners. I let my son choose from the bowl of names. He reached in and selected Al Chin!!! He then reached in again and selected Madspackler!!! It only seems fair that we consider both of them winners. :)

Al and Eric...please send me your snailers so I can get your prizes in the mail.

If you combine the individual donations from each of you...cbid was once again my biggest donor. I’m so thankful for your support. I’m also grateful for the kind words regarding my grandfather.

You guys are the best. Thank you.

Jim
